The Love Triangle…? Reed, Farah, and Raycis
After hearing Farah’s story, what I felt was a sadness towards Eltia. Considering the education Farah received, the words her father passed down to her, and the disownment Eltia conveyed to her, I do not fully understand Eltia’s true intentions. However, I don’t think she hates Farah at all.
Rather, it may be the opposite. I have a feeling the secret pact is heavily involved, but Farah surely doesn’t know about that. I was deep in thought about the contents of the story I heard from her.
“Excuse me, Lord Reed. Thank you for listening to my doubts about my mother…”
“No, no, it’s alright. As I said earlier, she will become my mother-in-law.”
I replied with a smile, and Farah smiled happily. Seeing her smiling face, I thought I should try to resolve things with Eltia too. Then, I heard a soldier’s voice from outside the room.
“Prince Raycis wishes to see you, Lord Reed. Is that alright?”
Startled by the unexpected name, I turned pale. I remembered what he had said to me when I was disguised as a maid the other day. Noticing my reaction, Farah gave me a puzzled look and spoke up.
“Lord Reed, did something happen between you and my brother?”
“Huh…!? No, nothing at all. Ahaha.”
Unable to hide my agitation, I answered rather suspiciously and then forced an awkward laugh.
“Then, shall I allow my brother to come in?”
“Yeah…it’s fine.”
She still had a puzzled expression at my response. However, she must have decided she couldn’t keep him waiting any longer. She told the soldier outside, “Please, let him in.” Shortly after, Raycis entered the room.
“Farah, my apologies for the sudden visit.”
“No, I’m alright.”
Raycis lightly greeted Farah, then immediately turned his gaze to me.
“Lord Reed, I hope you are feeling better now. The other day when I came, we missed each other. I have been wanting to apologize for my rudeness at the exhibition match and thank you properly. Thank you truly.”
Rapidly speaking, he deeply bowed to me. I hurriedly had him raise his head.
“No, no, please don’t worry about it. There were various circumstances involved, and I have already received your apology, so it’s alright. Besides, Lord Raycis, if your talks with Princess Farah progress, you will become my brother-in-law, so you don’t need to be so formal.”
“Oh, I see. Then I shall take advantage of your kind words.”
Saying so, he switched to a more casual way of speaking with an embarrassed laugh. I’m no longer angry at Raycis, but…I can’t help feeling somewhat uneasy because of that incident. However, contrary to my feelings, he brought up a topic I’d rather not discuss.

Feeling a cold gaze and presence, I instinctively turned towards the voice. There was Farah, with a resolute expression. Her expression and aura reminded me of her mother Eltia. Raycis must have noticed Farah’s change in atmosphere, as he answered in a somewhat polite tone.
“Oh, well. It was the maid who was in your room yesterday as well, don’t you recall?”
“…I do. Asna, do you remember her too?”
“Eh…me? Of course I do, but…”
Asna, Farah’s guard standing behind her, seemed a bit flustered when suddenly brought into the conversation. At that moment, I thought I saw her glance sideways at me briefly.
After hearing their responses, Raycis slightly blushed, seemingly about to say something. I had a bad feeling and muttered inwardly.

“Lord Reed, I have an embarrassing request, if I may.”
“Huh…!? W-What kind of request might that be?”
Feeling flustered under his intense gaze, I somehow managed to respond. Then he continued.
“You see, when I confessed to Tia, she said she wouldn’t accept me unless I became stronger than you, Lord Reed. Of course, I had intended to challenge you again someday. If I manage to defeat you in a rematch, I would very much appreciate if you could support my relationship with Tia…”
“Well, that’s an issue between the two of you…so I can’t really do anything about it. Besides, I’m afraid I don’t know anyone named Tia.”
As I answered, I desperately searched for a way to evade Raycis. Farah seemed to be watching our exchange with a cold gaze. As for Asna, she was still hunched over, her shoulders trembling. Amidst the swirl of complex emotions, Raycis continued.
“You don’t know her, Lord Reed? But surely Lady Diana was there at the time as well. If you ask her, she should know. Please do ask her about Tia.”
“Understood. I’ll ask her next time.”

Kind of getting tired of this trope: “angry/jealous girlfriend”, getting overused to the unnecessary degree. Mostly to a detriment of plot and male.
