Fantasy Galaxy Volume 1 Chapter 3 part 7

The Frenzied Kong’s corpse was only valuable for its Dragon Orb, so I left the rest behind. The wild animals and insects in this mountain range have voracious appetites, so a corpse like that would be completely devoured in about three days. I rode my hoverbike to the branch office of the Dragon Hunter Guild and exchanged the Dragon Orb for cash at the buyback counter. Then, I was called by the center director. It seemed the information from the buyback counter had reached him. I went to his office, where Director Dessero was waiting.

“Congratulations. As of today, you’re Rank D.”

It had only been about six months since I became Rank E, so this was unusually fast. But I guess taking down multiple Frenzied Kongs in a row had earned me recognition.

“Thank you. But is it really okay to advance this quickly?”

“I also think it’s too fast. You should gain more experience, but you’re an exception.”

“What do you mean by ‘exception’?”

“You’ve taken down multiple Threat Level 3 monsters using just [Particle Shot], [Particle Shot – Piercing Bullet], and [Particle Shot – Circular Blade]. That’s normally impossible.”

“Why? I heard that the three basic techniques are powerful enough to take down monsters up to Threat Level 3.”

“On average, mages can only take down Threat Level 1 monsters like the Unicorn Saurus with the three basic techniques. To take down higher-level monsters, they need to learn more advanced Tactical Magic.”

I was interested in more advanced Tactical Magic techniques. But the reason average mages can only take down Threat Level 1 monsters with the three basic techniques is probably due to issues with controlling their Heavenly wave. I was taught the basics of Heavenly wave control by Zolfienne of the Rikagel Celestial Race, which sets me apart from average mages.

“Maybe if I train my Heavenly wave control, my power will improve. By the way, does becoming Rank D mean I can get space citizenship?”

Director Dessero nodded.

“Of course. I’ll process it right away.”

I had to wait for about two hours, but I obtained space citizenship that same day. This made me an official citizen of the Space Alliance and allowed me to open an intergalactic bank account. Naturally, I immediately opened one and transferred the balance from my local account to the new one.

Becoming an official citizen of the Space Alliance not only allowed me to open an intergalactic bank account but also to purchase land and buildings. So, I bought a small warehouse in the suburbs of Elevator District. I had wanted to rent one, but renting wouldn’t allow me to work freely inside the warehouse. I moved the Spacetime Jump Field Generator, the Luon Drive, and the maintenance robot to the warehouse. I restarted the maintenance robot and resumed the repairs on the Spacetime Jump Field Generator that had been on hold.

The reason I hadn’t been able to repair the Spacetime Jump Field Generator before was that I lacked the necessary parts and equipment. But after buying the warehouse, I was able to purchase or rent the parts and equipment needed to fully repair it.

“So this is what 600 billion Krebits looks like.”

The Spacetime Jump Field Generator is about the size of a commercial refrigerator with four doors, commonly found in restaurant kitchens, but slightly larger. Its interior is of a complex structure. I have no idea how it works, but according to the maintenance robot’s report, it’s been perfectly repaired. Although it can’t actually be used without being checked by an expert, for now, I’ve stored the Spacetime Jump Field Generator and the Luon Drive inside the Dimensional Pendant.

Now that I’m certain I can take down the Frenzied Kong, I’ve returned to the hunting grounds in the Black Forest of Belva. My target is the Tyranodragon Bergona. I’m thinking of defeating four more Tyranodragon Bergonas to advance to Rank C. By the way, there are quite a few Dragon Hunters at Rank C. Dragon Hunter ranks range from [G] to [S], but there are rumors of unofficial ranks like [SS] and [SSS].

Up to Rank C, many can advance if they put in the time and effort. However, the leap from Rank C to Rank B is said to be significantly more difficult. Reaching Rank D means you’re considered “competent,” and advancing to Rank C means you’ll start hunting monsters in space. The reason I was able to reach Rank D in such a short time is likely thanks to the [Higher-Dimensional Access Method] given to me by Zolfienne. It allows me to easily obtain Bosol Particles and Heavenly wave Force, so my mastery of tactical magic techniques has progressed unusually quickly.

On the day I began hunting the Tyranodragon Bergona, I was flying over the Black Forest of Belva on a hoverbike. Of course, I have a license, so it’s not unlicensed driving. The trees of Belva, illuminated by the sun, appear black because they don’t reflect much light. As I slowly flew over these trees, I spotted a massive creature with a coppery red hue moving through the leaves that covered the ground. I landed my hoverbike, weaving through the trees, and stored it in the Dimensional Pendant before equipping my Particle Armor. By now, I could operate in Particle Armor for about five hours.

Examining the ground covered with large ferns and plants resembling tsuwabuki, I found fresh tracks that seemed to belong to a Tyranodragon Bergona. I followed them and soon sensed the presence of a massive creature ahead. I approached silently, peeking out from behind a large tree.

The Tyranodragon Bergona was in the process of hunting and eating a Unicorn Saurus. Its mouth, lined with sharp fangs, opened wide as it tore into the Unicorn Saurus’ flesh with terrifying power. The smell of blood began to fill the air. Realizing that now was my chance, I aimed for the Tyranodragon Bergona’s neck and launched a Particle Circular Flying Blade. At that moment, I noticed Heavenly wave Force leaking from my body. I still hadn’t fully mastered controlling it.

The Tyranodragon Bergona seemed to sense the Heavenly wave Force and turned away from the Unicorn Saurus, causing my aim to falter slightly. The Particle Circular Flying Blade slashed across its belly. Bright red blood gushed out as a deafening roar echoed through the area. As I prepared to launch another Particle Circular Flying Blade, the Bergona charged at me. Its whip-like tail struck my Particle Armor-covered body, sending me flying. I crashed through branches and bounced off the ground.

As I lay there, I noticed the Tyranodragon Bergona approaching with heavy footsteps. I hurriedly stood up and fired another Particle Circular Flying Blade. Though my aim was off, the blade sliced through the Bergona’s shoulder. The creature roared as it spewed paralyzing gas from its mouth.

“Crap!”

I desperately retreated to avoid the gas. Since I was wearing Particle Armor, I couldn’t use a gas mask. Still, I wasn’t about to remove the armor. I ran around to avoid the gas and then aimed a Particle Circular Flying Blade at the Bergona’s leg. The attack caught it off guard, and the blade severed its right leg. The Bergona fell with a ground-shaking thud, and I fired a Particle Piercing Bullet into its head. The bullet left an eight-centimeter hole in its massive skull. While a human would have died instantly, the Bergona thrashed around in its death throes. I finished it off with three more Particle Piercing Bullets.

“Phew, the Tyranodragon Bergona is tough, as expected. But since I managed to take it down, does that mean I’ve reached a competent level?”

It’s lonely not having anyone to talk to. As I thought about Sario, I sensed something approaching and quickly stored the Bergona’s corpse in the Dimensional Pendant.

“Tch, it’s not a monster but a human.”

What appeared was another Dragon Hunter, a member of the Were-tiger race, a hybrid of tiger and human. The Were-tigers are known for their violent tendencies and frequent trouble, so it’s best to keep my distance.

“Hey, did you see a Tyranodragon Bergona around here?”

“I did. But it’s gone now.”

The Were-tiger turned his gleaming eyes toward me.

“You don’t look strong, but I guess you took it down. Looks can be deceiving, huh?”

None of your business. My face has wrinkles and sagging due to age, making me appear weak. Because of this, I occasionally get looked down on. Maybe I should seriously consider getting a longevity treatment.

“My hunt is over, so I’ll be going now.”

“You’re not very Dragon Hunter-like. What’s your name?”

“I’m Zen, Rank D. And you?”

“I’m Zedeggar, Rank C.”

Zedeggar is about two meters tall and weighs around 120 kilograms. His face is very tiger-like, giving him an intimidating presence. After parting ways with Zedeggar, I went to the Dragon Hunter Guild to request the dismantling of the Tyranodragon Bergona and the creation of a bracelet-type Dimensional Box. By the way, I exchanged everything except the Dragon Gem for cash, and 1.5 million Crebits were deposited into my account after deducting the cost of the Dimensional Bracelet.

The reason I’m making a second Dimensional Box is that the first one is used to store the Spacetime Jump Field Generator, the Luon Drive, and an unused maintenance robot. I wanted a dedicated one for storing my hunted prey. Even in terms of capacity, a Tyranodragon Bergona is about the limit.

To reach Rank C, hunting three more Tyranodragon Bergonas is the quickest path, but after taking down the second one, I stopped encountering them. The Black Forest of Belva is about twice the size of Hokkaido, so finding a Tyranodragon Bergona is no easy task.

Half a year has passed since then. During that time, I’ve hunted two Tyranodragon Bergonas. One more, and I’ll reach Rank C. In these six months, I’ve also hunted giant frog-type amphibian monsters in the Narvia Wetlands to the northeast and massive snake monsters in the Garrudo Desert to the north.
