“Second place again, huh Marie?”
“Gah, Norman!!”
It seemed the upperclassmen rivalry – the battle between Marie and Norman – played out again this year, with Norman taking first place. Marie could be heard grumbling in the hallway at the posted rankings.
As for the honor student Raze Granoli…
“Wow, you and Addis tied for first again, Raze!”
Folia’s words made her blush.
(….If I let him take the solo spotlight, Lord Wellrain will give me an earful later…)
Raze remembered Wellrain’s smile as he said, ““Break his nose so he doesn’t get to his head”
Since he directly addressed his son’s performance, Raze knew she had to be mindful.
Wellrain seemed to want Addis to excel at the academy, and more than anything, Raze herself didn’t want to lose.
He was blessed with superior lineage, upbringing, looks, physique, intellect, swordsmanship, and magic, after all.
The saying “the heavens bestow not two blessings” meant they actually bestowed far more than two, it seemed.
Since Raze couldn’t reveal her trump card of the Battle Festa, she had zero intention of losing the regular exams.
“You two are amazing to keep up such high scores even with all the academy festival work. My grades dropped.”
Seeing the dejected Folia, Raze panicked.
“Don’t worry, you still have a next time! Cheer up! Let’s go eat something sweet?”
“Yeah, you’re right! For now, I’ll do my best with the Battle Festa as the goal!”
Appreciating her positivity befitting of a heroine, Raze also had the next challenge in mind.
During the two-week break, they would gather three days for academy festival preparations.
If it were the off-season winter, she could free up more time, but unfortunately the longer daylight hours of this season meant being busier.
There was work only she could do, so she may end up with over two weeks’ worth of workload if she slipped up.
“I’ll do my best too”
Another battle unlike any with others was rapidly approaching–
“Lieutenant Bonaruto, good morning. Thank you for your hard work. And I appreciate your efforts going forward.”
Raze, having returned home, first transferred to her own office.
Donning her military uniform, the battle had already begun.
“I absolutely have to return to being a student today, so please take note.”
“Y-Yes, ma’am.”
Raze began working in a hurry as soon as she returned, leaving Cross dumbfounded, though he felt joyful that she had come back.
“Um, representative. The academy–“
Cross had been looking forward to souvenir stories, but a sort of murderous aura seemed to leak out from Raze as she rapidly scanned through reports, causing him to hold his tongue.
Glancing down, the paper Raze had handed him had the large words “I won’t work even if I die on this day!!”
“Eh. Three whole days!?”
Cross unintentionally raised his voice at the three consecutive dates listed.
As her adjutant, he knew just how precious these two weeks of vacation were for her.
After all, Raze-Shes-Orphan was the ace of aces of this nation. A living legend.
The missions assigned to her were no laughing matter in danger or difficulty.
“There’s a meeting for the school festival. The members are full VIPs. Since I said I’d go, I have to go no matter what happens.”
“Representative……”
Raze had the eyes of a warrior, her resolve clear.
Next, she headed to headquarters to report on her mission. Normally she’d be reluctant and delay it, but this time Raze was different.
“That was fast. I thought the graduation ceremony just ended?”
“Ha. Time is limited, so I can’t waste a single second.”
“I suppose so.”
She boldly confronted the Grim Reaper himself.
Get straight to the point, and be dismissed just as quickly.
Finishing her report, Raze awaited Wellrain’s words.
“This is what I’d like you to do over your break. There are still far too many unexplored parts of Zone XV. Please prioritize this and advance research with Professor Frederick. The development department also had some proposals for you. They seem to want to hear your opinion, so drop by there too.”
“Understood.”

Once decided, all that was left was to complete each task one by one.
Returning to her desk, she immediately began drafting a schedule.
“Alright. So I’ll go by this for now. Count on you after!”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Raze moved to another room and changed into her battle attire.
Going to Baluda right off the bat wasn’t something she’d normally want to do, but any obstacles in her path were to be eliminated, no matter what.
Transferring to Zone XV, Raze made up for the lack of activity at the academy by defeating new species and any others, recovering their magic stones, writing investigation reports after recovering them, and if it seemed necessary, sending samples to Cyan’s Baluda base by transfer.
She repeated this process for several days, dozens of times.
“I want to go home. I want to eat delicious food. I want to sleep in a fluffy bed. I want to soak in the bath…”
Since one had to pass through the nation’s transfer device to go from Ordiana to Baluda, she was staying overnight at the Baluda base to avoid wasting time.
It was supposed to be a vacation, but she couldn’t rest.
However, this was the price to pay for her enjoyable academy life.
Raze gritted her teeth, wanting to spend holidays relaxing and enjoying her youth with friends like a proper student!
“Damn monsters, setting traps and all!!”
On the final day of the expedition, though she thought she had gotten used to the completely different ecosystem from Ordiana’s, the depths of Baluda still ran deep. Using transfer magic, she lifted and bisected from the belly a turtleshell-bearing, spider-bodied, utterly grotesque monster.
Swinging knives, swords, and spears while venting her dissatisfaction, Raze pressed on with the investigation.
The Raze-Granoli studying joyfully at the academy was nowhere to be seen. Not even her trademark braided bangs, she simply tied her hair back in a ponytail to avoid interference during combat.
She remembered Folia once saying she wanted to see her with longer hair, but decided against growing it out too much since longer hair took more time to dry and was more prone to damage.
From the narrow forehead of the defeated monster, she extracted a small, glowing stone and magically sent it to the base.
Monsters were supposed to gain wisdom by eating humans, but the further she ventured, the more individuals seemed to actually be using their heads to inhabit the area.
(If I tell Professor Yor about this now, he definitely won’t let me leave…)
Raze decided to keep quiet about it until she noticed for certain.
Having reached a good stopping point, Raze moved to the base.
“Thank you for your hard work, Representative.”
“Thank you for your hard work…”
Now she could finally return to Ordiana.
After showering, she boarded the transfer device and returned to the human-inhabited continent.
“Representative……”
No sooner did she return to her office than Cross greeted her with a troubled expression.
“What’s wrong?”
“A danger level 7 beast has appeared in the Trogner dungeon.”
“……And a request for me?”
“Yes.”
Knowing her schedule, Cross looked apologetic, though it wasn’t his fault.
“There have already been casualties. The Knight Order seems to be having trouble rescuing the adventurers.”
That much was easy to predict.
With a request having come in, she had no choice but to go, but surely the Knight Order had capable personnel of their own.
The fact that the job had been passed to her made her sigh involuntarily.
“Well, the Knight Order is still just a gathering of important nobles in the end. Leaving the dangerous stuff to the military, I guess? Not that putting our lives on the line isn’t our job, but couldn’t they have done something…?”
Using whatever is usable – putting the right person in the right job, in other words. But still……
Without knowing the situation, she didn’t want to speak too ill of it, but passing on missions with a casual “Oh, Raze is available, right?” attitude was unacceptable.
“Alright. Lieutenant Dicard should be free, right? Let’s send him.”
“Eh, but it’s danger level 7!?”
Cross’s eyes went wide as Raze tried to pass the work to her subordinate.
“The danger level of beasts is nothing compared to monsters. He’s reached Zone XI, so it’s no problem. But Lieutenant Dicard does tend to go overboard… Maybe Lieutenant Bonaruto should go as a chaperon to keep him from picking fights with the Knight Order?”
“……Understood.”
Realizing she trusted him, Cross said nothing more.
It was an honor to be entrusted with a mission she’d normally handle herself.
(Just don’t let that Harul guy get too full of himself.)
With so many unruly comrades making things difficult, the mission still had to be carried out.
He immediately set out to find Harul-Dicard.
