“Not if I can help it!”
Raven shouts, releasing his magic power to create a turbulence around him.
Unpredictable gusts of wind batter the wyverns’ wings.
Before they can gain speed, the turbulence hits, and the taking-off wyverns crash one after another. Many only suffer broken wings or legs, but a few break their necks and die instantly.
Raven observes the confused wyverns. Their huge beaks look capable of swallowing a human whole, their wings are as large as sails, and their flapping could blow away armored soldiers.
It’s hard to get close to them, but there’s no need to take unnecessary risks.
“Go for the wings! Put a hole in one wing, and they can’t fly!”
Raven shouts, slicing through the left wing of the wyvern in front of him with his spear. The wyvern thrashes in pain, trying to take off, but with its left wing torn, it crashes down.
Without a demon on its back, it might have flown despite the injury. But for wyverns forced to fly using magic, a damaged wing is fatal.
Following Raven’s lead, the other soldiers start targeting the wings.
“Alright, you guys, move in pairs! One distracts the dragon, the other attacks the wing!”
Tars directs the soldiers, slashing at the wyverns’ wings alongside them.
Though Tars isn’t the strongest soldier in the Rome squad, he’s excellent at coordinating with others. His teamwork might make him seem less impressive individually, but he’s reliable in command.
“Tars! Take care of the ground!”
Raven delegates the command to Tars.
“Hey, what are you going to do?”
“I’m taking them down from above.”
Raven spreads his cape, creates a current of air around himself, and takes to the sky.
From the air, Raven spots wyverns successfully taking off.
He targets one struggling to rise, diving down like a bird of prey and landing on its wing. He pierces the wing with his spear upon landing, then immediately kicks off to leap again.
In his next jump, Raven already has a new target in sight, swiftly taking down wyvern after wyvern.
The wyvern squad, unprepared for an opponent attacking from the sky like themselves, has no defense against Raven.
From above, Raven sees that Sei is holding off a hundred giant soldiers of the Demon King’s army with just forty men.
Despite struggling, they’re retreating skillfully, buying time. At this rate, they can defeat most of the wyverns before Sei’s line breaks.
Lady Romelia! We have fulfilled your command!
In the blood-red sky, the soaring knight Raven sees his leader standing beneath the flag.

Elisabeth was healing Albion with her restorative techniques when Otto was blown away by a strike from Garios. Otto tried to stand but couldn’t. Albion, just recovered, charged at Garios with Kyle following.
“Eliza, heal! Eka, barrage!”
Princess Lu shouted. Elisabeth ran to Otto, using her healing arts. Ekaterina’s staff glowed with magic circles, and destructive light spheres rained down on Garios. But the massive Garios easily stepped back.
Kyle dashed in to attack, but Garios dodged with a backflip, then pushed off the ground with his left hand, leaping further back.
“He’s so big but moves so quickly!”
Seeing Garios’s agile flip, Albion thrust his spear with all his might, but Garios blocked it with his club. Albion’s attack was a feint, though, as Princess Lu had already jumped, aiming a heavy strike from above.
But Garios noticed this. Manipulating his huge club like a twig, he deflected Albion’s spear and aimed it at the descending Princess Lu.
Princess Lu halted her attack, deflecting Albion’s spear and retreating.
Garios stood on his toes, lowering his waist and extending his left hand, positioning his club under his right arm.
Seeing Garios’s perfect stance, even the brave Albion and Princess Lu hesitated to attack.
Garios, the Demon King’s younger brother, was an exceptionally tough opponent.
Despite his massive frame, he wasn’t just about strength. His agile movements were akin to those of a smaller fighter, using delicate and precise techniques. His entire body was perfectly trained, making him a complete warrior.
His ferocity had wounded both Albion and Otto, and healing couldn’t keep up.
“I’m…I’m okay now.”
Otto, who had been lying in front of Elisabeth, stood up even though he hadn’t fully recovered.
As a healer, Elisabeth wanted to fully restore him, but without Otto as a shield, Princess Lu and Albion could be taken out by a single blow from Garios.
“Hahaha! Isn’t this fun? Giving your all is good! Don’t you think?”
Despite their battered state, Garios seemed to grow more energetic with each fight, laughing heartily. Though they had been fighting for hours, he showed no signs of fatigue.
“This guy…is he really the poster child of battle…”
Albion grumbled. Princess Lu, standing beside him, could only give a tired, wry smile.
Garios was a strange man.
Even today, Garios had killed hundreds of guards, making him a hated enemy. Yet, his nature was innocent, like a child’s.
Though feared as a demon, Garios simply loved to fight.
This love made him a genius. A god’s body with a child’s heart. That was the source of Garios’s strength.
But Elisabeth had also seen the weakness in his strength.
When Elisabeth nodded, Princess Lu, Ekaterina, and Albion nodded as well. They had already planned their strategy through their battles.
“Garios, you fight splendidly!”
Elisabeth straightened her back, praising Garios’s valor with the dignity of a queen.
“In that case, I shall defeat you with my ultimate technique. Even your brother, the Demon King Zelgius, fell to this art! Prepare for my lethal strike!”
“Really? You had such a trick up your sleeve? Then hurry up and show it!”
Garios laughed, urging her on.
“Everyone, buy me some time. This takes a while to prepare.”
Elisabeth gathered white light in her raised hand, asking them to buy time, though it wasn’t necessary.
“Huh? Sure, I’ll wait. Show me the ultimate strike that killed my brother.”
Garios, laughing, waited patiently. Elisabeth smirked inwardly. For there was no such ultimate technique that had killed Zelgius.
Elisabeth only had two skills: healing and creating a protective barrier. By honing these to the extreme, she could regenerate lost limbs and create powerful defensive walls.
The light gathering in her hand was merely healing power, made to look impressive. Garios didn’t realize and waited.
This is Garios’s weakness.
He enjoys the battle so much that he waits for the enemy’s trump card. This fight has dragged on because while Garios desires battle, he doesn’t wish for victory.
For the invincible Garios, victory is always guaranteed. It’s merely something that ends an enjoyable fight. If Garios had been fixated on winning, the match would have already been decided.
“Here I come, watch this!”
Elisabeth strikes a pose, waving her hand and directing a white light towards Garios.
Garios braces himself, excited about what kind of attack might come. But the attack Garios hopes for doesn’t occur. Elisabeth’s spell merely dazzles and distracts.
The real move is Ekaterina, who plants her staff into the ground at a distance. Under the cover of Elisabeth’s white light, Ekaterina activates her magic, creating a complex magic circle on the ground.
As nothing happens after being bathed in light, Garios raises an eyebrow at Elisabeth. At that moment, Garios’s body begins to sink.
“Oh? What’s this?”
Garios is surprised as he looks at his feet.
A golden swamp has been created beneath Garios, and the golden liquid is trying to swallow his giant body.
The shocked Garios tries to climb out of the golden swamp, but the more he struggles, the deeper he sinks.
This is Ekaterina’s [Golden Land] magic.
“Then how about this!”
Garios, already swallowed up to his chest, strikes the ground with his club while still surprised. The recoil lifts Garios’s body into the air.
Scattering golden droplets, Garios does a flip in the air and escapes from the golden swamp.
“Using a bluff for this level of magic? I’m disappointed. Huh?”
Garios shows a triumphant face after escaping the swamp. But soon his face freezes in shock. No, his body has actually frozen. The golden liquid clinging to his body has hardened, turning Garios into a golden statue.
This is the true power of [Golden Land]. The golden liquid hardens instantly, turning those who step in it into ornaments.
It’s a difficult magic to use effectively, but once fallen into the swamp, even if one escapes, the golden restraint seals the enemy. It’s Ekaterina’s sure-win magic.
With Garios’s movements sealed, Ekaterina activates her magic again. She creates a massive lightning bolt and strikes Garios.
A torrent of electricity that could turn an ordinary demon into charcoal. But Garios was still alive. Then, Princess Lu, Albion, and Otto charge forward.
“Garios! Prepare yourself!”
Princess Lu brandishes her sword, Albion thrusts his spear, and Otto swings his war hammer.
“Don’t underestimate me!”
As the sword, spear, and war hammer – three lethal strikes – approach, Garios roars with reddened eyes. Immediately, the golden restraints binding Garios shatter. Beneath the gold covering Garios, muscles swollen to their limit are visible. With just the expansion of his muscles, he had broken the golden restraints covering his entire body from the inside.
Garios shows his swollen muscles and raises his club with both hands.
“This is bad!”
Elisabeth immediately activates a protective wall. She remembers Garios’s strike that had changed the very terrain.
She creates a wall of light in front of Garios, but Garios’s club, gripped with both hands, is released.
The earth is blown away, and Elisabeth falls, unable to withstand the impact.
