Chapter 10: Night Invader
I started wondering what I was doing before I lost my memory.
What kind of person was I, and who were the people around me?
Sometimes I’m inexplicably curious about it, and at times, a strange emptiness occupies my chest.
Maybe I was living quite a lonely life before I lost my memory, I think to myself.
“That’s enough work for today.”
“Ah, okay!”
As the season approaches summer, the sun sets later.
While looking at the sunset-colored sky, I start cleaning up. My eyes fall on a photo frame placed in the kitchen, out of customers’ sight.
“Um, Master?”
“What is it?”
“Were you in the Self-Defense Forces?”
There’s a photo of the Master wearing camouflage-like clothes and a hat, seemingly taken with his colleagues.
As I look at it with interest, he nods ambiguously, looking a bit uncomfortable.
“Ah, yes. Former. I quit after about a year or so.”
“Why’s that?”
“Why, you ask… Well, something happened.”
“What happened?”
When I ask, he shows a hesitant expression.
After a few seconds of silence, he shakes his head.
“It’s nothing much. Look, I’ve got prep work and other things to do for tomorrow. Get going.”
“O-Okay. See you tomorrow then.”
“…Oh, right. Wait.”
“Yes?”
He suddenly stops me.
“A regular customer was looking for some help. I thought you might be interested.”
“A part-time job?”
“Yeah, they said they need someone about your age because it requires some physical strength.”
“…It’s not a suspicious job, is it?”
When I say that, the Master’s eyes widen, and then he bursts into laughter.
“Of course not! I wouldn’t introduce you if it was. It’s a mascot costume job.”
“That’s pretty physically demanding…”
“That’s right. That’s why they want someone young. Well, it’s not summer yet, so it shouldn’t be too hard.”
I guess that kind of job would be okay.
I’m confident in my physical strength.
I tell him I’ll think about it, then say goodbye and head outside.
The town is dyed in sunset colors as I walk leisurely.
“No invaders today. That’s good.”
Invaders tend to appear during the day.

Maybe in the future, I’ll end up involving my sister and the people around me because of me.

The bell sound I didn’t want to hear today rings in my head.
Sighing deeply at the sound strongly announcing the arrival of a monster, I dash into a nearby alley and catch Shiro, who has transformed into a belt buckle.
“Looks like we have to do this today too! Let’s go, Shiro!!”

Invaders appear at any time.
Feeling exasperated at my naive thoughts, I transform into the white warrior as usual.
Riding the Lupus Striker, I arrive at the place where the pillar of light appeared. The scene has already turned into a disastrous situation.

Asphalt roads marked with large claw-like scratches.
Unlike before, it seems a beast has appeared. I land at the scene and stop my bike.

“A beast-like… humanoid?”
A monster resembling a feline, covered in gray fur.
It has mechanical belt-like restraints on its chest, legs, and arms, with the number 189 engraved on its chest.
“189? So the numbers do have some meaning?”
While wondering about the number, I check the surroundings.
It seems the people in the area have already evacuated, but there might still be some stragglers.
As usual, let’s quickly defeat this… beast… no, cat? Cat monster.
“Jaa!”
“So fast!?”
The cat monster attacks with incredible leg power.
I quickly draw my Lupus Dagger to deflect its claws, but its strength is overwhelming, and I’m almost pushed back.
“Blue form… No, not enough power! Then!!”

I hit the buckle, changing from white to red form.
The enemy shows surprise for a moment at the flame-covered armor, but it’s just for an instant, and it attacks fiercely again.

Its eyes show nothing but hatred and anger…!!

As it recoils, I land another hit as it tries to attack again.

In an instant, the restraint-like things on its hands and feet burst open as if being released.
Surprised by this change, the enemy disappears from my sight, and a powerful impact hits my back, sending me flying.
“Guaah!?”
What’s this!?
Its speed and power have suddenly increased!?
I stand up in a rolling motion and look around, but I can’t catch sight of the enemy.
“Even faster now!! Whoa!?”
Claws strike my shoulder armor, causing sparks to fly.
This speed is faster than the previous lanky rabbit monster!?
Shot Blue might be able to catch it, but it would be at a disadvantage in close combat.
“Maybe I should try for a decisive blow with an instant transformation to Shot Blue.”
[NO!]
“Huh?”
The buckle suddenly denies it.
Confused by this clearly different response, I tilt my head, only to be hit directly by the cat monster’s claws again, causing me to roll on the ground.
[COMPLETE!! AXE YELLOW!!]
“Ouch… Huh, a new form?”
Axe Yellow?
“Eh, when did this happen!?”

While deflecting the cat monster’s claws, I reach for the buckle.
I move the side slider three times, initiating the transformation into the new form.

“Let’s do this!!”
The moment I press the button briskly, lightning strikes around me.
The lightning blasts away the enemy trying to approach and hits my armor, dyeing it a bright yellow color.
[CHANGE!! AXE YELLOW!!]
I swat away the lightning with my arm.
“……!”
As usual, the knowledge of how to use this form [Axe Yellow] flows into my head.
Well then, all that’s left is to defeat this guy!!

Against the claws swung by the enraged cat monster, I move while unleashing electricity from my entire body.
