The Devil Princess Volume 3 Chapter 9 part 3

“Get down!!”

At the shout of the holy knight, Ludrick and the others reflexively ducked, and a violent gale tore through, knocking down the surrounding thin trees by their roots.

“Noel!”

“Ugh…”

Even while crouched, the petite Noel was about to be blown away, and Ludrick quickly reached out and grabbed his hand to withstand the impact.

“What’s…”

“Look over there!”

One of the holy knights, his heavy armor withstanding the wind pressure, raised his voice, and everyone turned to look, stunned.

“The castle…”

“The mountain over there is gone!?”

Not only had the castle they had been heading towards completely vanished, but one of the mountains beyond it had been gouged out, and the massive plume of dust had formed a mushroom cloud.

“This is…”

Clearly, an abnormal and extraordinary event had occurred, and Ludrick let out a dry voice, holding his breath.

It was no longer just a matter of Duke Capel plotting something. Something more critical was happening, and he hesitated to take a step forward.

It was not out of fear. Of course, there was fear, but it was because, as a member of the royal family, if something happened to Ludrick, it would not only be a problem of responsibility for his escorts, but also a decline in the national power due to the loss of a royal family member, affecting the diplomatic situation of the country.

“…I have no intention of stopping here. Even if something happens to me, my brother is there. As a royal, it is my duty to rescue Eurushia and resolve this situation.”

“…” “…” “…Understood!”

Upon hearing Ludrick’s words as a royal, the Holy Knights also steeled their resolve, and Noel nodded firmly.

“Let’s go!”

“…Are you alright?”

“More or less…”

From the crushed castle, Noah pushed away the rubble and emerged, and the others also showed up from the debris, their clothes torn but all unharmed.

Being spiritual life forms, the demons were physically unharmed, but they had accumulated damage internally and their magic power had diminished considerably.

“This is…”

“The power of our master…”

The pillar of the highest-ranked devil in the Demon Realm, the devil Beast – the “Golden Beast”.

The four servants knew better than anyone that their master Eurushia was a being far superior to them.

She was their creator, mother, sister, and the sun of the Demon Realm whom they revered…

Eurushia, who had summoned not one, but four great demons from the Demon Realm and allowed them to serve by her side again. Her “true nature” was certainly formidable, but they realized that the magic power they felt was not much different from their own, having evolved into great demons.

But they rejoiced, believing that this was the result of their desperate efforts to gain power for Eurushia, and that they could use that power for her, that she needed their strength.

But… they were wrong.

Eurushia had told them that they were “demons with no special abilities.” That their only trait was speed…

But that was only in terms of their abilities. Witnessing the “Golden Beast” baring its fangs, the four demons realized the vast difference in power that separated them.

Thinking back and considering, the answer had been in plain sight since the time they were in the Demon Realm.

The existence that Eurushia called “him” was also formidable, but they had not felt much pressure from it normally. But once it unleashed its power, it shook the very land of the Demon Realm.

Probably, the highest-ranked demons could also hide their true power. But where was that power hidden?

High-ranking demons could create their own subspace within their souls. That power, far exceeding even the Great Demons, was separated in a subspace.

Eurushia was not supposed to have a subspace, but faced with the “Golden Beast” unleashing its power, the servants finally realized the truth.

Her true form, the “Golden Beast,” had lost its magic power due to being forcibly brought into the material world, and had been slumbering in the depths of Eurushia’s soul.

Eurushia had not been able to use demonic power until she devoured the first soul, which made sense. There was no way she could recover the power capable of destroying the world just by eating human food. Until then, she had been gradually recovering her power in a form like an offering, but could not regain her true power.

But with the four servants gathered, and the “souls” they provided as “prey,” the dormant “true form” was also infused with magic power.

And the power of the “true form” that had not been sealed in a subspace had swelled to the point where it could burst at any moment… The evil peoples cunning scheme to extract the magic power had inadvertently dragged out the “Golden Beast,” which was in a state of hunger.

“Don’t let your guard down!”

The “Golden Beast,” having noticed the existence of Noah and the others, flapped its golden wings and turned its crimson gaze from the heights of the sky.

It was probably starting to feel the “hunger” from using its power. Seeing the demons, lumps of magic power, as “prey,” the “Golden Beast” was about to attack the paralyzed Noah and the others again, when–

“Are you alright?!”

A voice was heard from afar, and Noah made a pained expression as he realized who it was.

Rushing towards them were Ludrick and Noel, accompanied by the three Holy Knights, undaunted by the carnage.

“Why did you come?!”

Noah shouted without hiding his irritation. Noah was not concerned for their safety. Protecting Ludrick and the others was an order from their master Eurushia, and even though she had lost her sanity, they could not have her kill them.

“This is no time for that!”

Ludrick yelled in response to Noah’s words. The Holy Knights frowned at Noah’s disrespectful attitude, but seeing Ludrick treating it nonchalantly, they realized they had a relationship similar to Noel’s.

“Don’t get distracted!”

With her sword drawn, Noel glared at the “Golden Beast.”

“What is that…?”

A chill ran down Ludrick and the Holy Knights’ spines. Visually, it was a small panther with golden fur and wings… But contrary to its beautiful appearance, they were undeniably made to understand that it was an existence of a completely different dimension, possessing a horrifying level of power.

“Noah… What happened to Eurushia?”

“That is…”

Noah hesitated to answer. Sensing something in his attitude, Ludrick’s eyes widened as he looked up at the “Golden Beast” soaring in the sky.

“Get ready!”

Noel shouted again, and at that moment, the “Golden Beast” attacked them once more. Noel quickly took a fighting stance with his sword–

“Haaa!!”

In the meantime, Nia who had rushed in used her magic sword as a shield to deflect the attack, only to be knocked away and slammed into the rubble.

“Nia-san!”

“Get back!”

Before Noel could cry out in shock, Noah and Fanny quickly evacuated the humans, and Tina went straight for the “golden beast”, evading its pursuit with a body check.

“You all have such power…”

“Now is not the time for that.”

Holding Ludrick and Noel, Noah tossed them aside, and the stirring Ludrick noticed Noel’s dumbfounded expression.

“What’s wrong, Noel?”

“Ludrick… Haven’t I seen that golden glow before?”

“What?”

Hearing Noel’s words, Ludrick furrowed his brow as if recalling something, and Noah beside them twisted his lips.

The young ones deeply connected to Eurushia were trying to grasp the “truth”.

The same “golden” color as Eurushia…

If she disappeared and this appeared, what could the “answer” be?

“Listen, humans!”

Amid the destruction, the badly wounded Cordle appeared, holding a broken magic sword in his remaining right arm and shouting.

Having been behind the demons’ defenses, Cordle had miraculously survived.

“Listen well! That thing is a high-ranking demon of the demon realm! If left unchecked, it will destroy this world! If you don’t want to die, lend me your power!!”

Demons cannot use holy magic. Instead, they use the dark magic of “Injury” to take wounds and heal onto themselves, but Cordle’s injured left arm and side were now wrapped in a black miasma, corroding his body like a curse.

Nearly a half-dead body, Cordle clung to life solely through his loyalty to the Demon King, and saw a glimmer of hope in the humans somehow fighting the summoned high-ranking demon.

He absolutely could not allow that monstrosity to reach the Demon King. That sense of mission was the only thing keeping Cordle’s body alive, even in death.

“That skin color… Could it be, you’re a demon!?”

Seeing Cordle’s gray skin, Ludrick’s eyes widened. Hearing his muttering, Cordle turned to them.

“I’m Cordle, a magic general of the Demon King’s army! If that demonic beast runs amok, it will threaten not just this country, but the entire world! So lend me your strength, damn it!”

“What!? You all are the ones who–“
