On the day I returned to Planet Ytts,
After a small celebration with Gonzalez, I went straight home.
Work makes you tired, but [Combat] and subjugating power struggles like noble infighting, suppressing foreign forces and rebels is especially tiring, so of course I immediately crashed.
When I woke the next morning, it was already 10 am, so I decided to eat out for lunch and started on the laundry first.
Not that there was much to it, just separating the colored clothes and tossing them in the automatic washer dryer.
While that ran, I tidied up the room. Again, just sucking up dust with the vacuum and wiping stuff down.
Once the laundry finished, I folded it and tossed it all into the closet.
After that was done and I changed, I headed out for lunch, though just fast food or a cheap set meal place. I don’t plan on going somewhere fancy.
Besides, I plan to take it easy for 5-6 days, so I should stock up on groceries during that time too.
On the first day, I finished lunch and shopping without incident.
Then from the second day, it was nonstop anime, games, light novels, and internet until morning.
Material farming and ranking up in [Creature Hunter Bless – Starbreaker], binging season 4 of [The Mysterious Summoning Ring Somewhere], reading the novel version of [The Maiden Wars] I had piled up, very fulfilling days.
Then the morning of the fifth day.
That day was the release day for the new volume of [Assassin×Family].
I’d gone to bed before midnight the previous night, and woke at 5:30 am this morning.
I could nap until close to when the bookstore or [Animember] opened, but my body felt gross and I wanted to soak in a nice big bath, so I quickly got ready and went to the 24 hour bathhouse.
This large bathing facility, [Relaxation Health Land], has baths plus massage, dining, various amusement facilities, even lodging, so being open 24 hours is pretty impressive.
I packed a large bag with change of clothes and bath towel, and a separate backpack to hold the new book, then headed to [Relaxation Health Land].
The main hall that’s like the entrance to [Relaxation Health Land] is very spacious with high ceilings giving an open feeling.
The interior is bright and clean, and it’s early morning, so there’s a lot of grandpa and grandma types, but some families too.
I bought an entry ticket and took it to the counter.
Incidentally, the tickets are specially printed on plastic paper, with the design changing each month, and some people collect them apparently.
After the counter checked my ticket and gave me a locker key,
I put my shoes in the locker with that number, then could finally enter the changing room.
I stored my belongings and clothes in a numbered locker, locked it, then went into the bathroom with just a towel. After a quick wash, I soaked in the large bath.
“Ahh…”
I have a bath at home and the ship shower is refreshing, but nothing beats this feeling of openness.
As I enjoyed that blissful time,
“Oh, if it ain’t big bro.”
I heard a familiar voice.
“It’s you… You look awful, you okay?”
“Had a bit much last night. Proper hangover. So I came to sweat it out.”
It was Bernard Zag, a senior in the business and former cop.
As you’d expect from an ex-cop, he’s very sturdy, looking a bit younger than his age.
“Ahh, nice bath. A cold one after will be so good~♪”
“Don’t you think you drank too much yesterday?”
“I ain’t working for a while, so it’s fine. You might think I should act the merc, but [Combat] and [Subjugation] are tiring. Same for you, right?”

Unless you’re really strapped for cash, a total battle maniac, did absolutely no fighting on the battlefield, or treat it like a game zipping around, most mercs take a few days off after [Combat] and [Subjugation] jobs.
Even just being on a battlefield is that tiring.
“Piracy will increase for a while…”
“The rebels’ sycophants and sons will become destitute… Less stressful than war though. So what’s your plan after this? I’m going drinking once places open, how ’bout you?”
“I’ve got shopping plans, so eat here then head out.
That concluded our conversation.
I barely talk to Mr. Bernard normally, but this level of acquaintance is just right.
After silently soaking for about 5 more minutes,
“Well, excuse me then.”
“See ya ’round the job.”
A quick exchange and I left the bath.
After getting out of the bath and eating breakfast at the facility restaurant, I headed to the main street of Block 65 in the shopping district with [Animember].
This street has stylish cafes, bookstores, eateries, boutiques, cosmetics, jewelry, a real mix of people traffic.
Slipping through that to the Mashitomo Building with [Animember], I arrived at the bookstore, first grabbing the new [Assassin×Family] volume, and also buying new volumes I’d forgot of [Corinna’s Bad at Talking] and [The Kind Reaper] I’d missed.
After that I began browsing around without aim.
Then for some reason I felt a gaze.
Looking for its source, I found it immediately.
Two high school girl looking types were glaring this way.
Honestly I don’t recognize them and don’t remember being rude.
Maybe they’re newbie mercs filled with weird ideas by protagonist-types.
If so, I absolutely can’t get involved.
One wrong move and I could get labeled a criminal just for catching their eye!
So I promptly paid and left the store.
At least they didn’t chase me.
Heroine Side: Rubina Laduum
I had come to Planet Ytts with my sister that day.
The reason was because figures of my favorite character, [Onitsuka Ura] from the social rearing sim [Demon War Chronicles], were still in stock, so I had the store hold one for pick-up, and came to get it.
Just as I was in the best mood having obtained that figure, that guy appeared in our sight.
The pilot of the combat shuttle that had shot us down before.
When my sister Elisa said we could immediately identify him from the image records and he was a chubby otaku, I felt tremendous anger.
Why wasn’t it a refreshing hunk or dandy ossan or cute femboy?!
I wanted to find and kill him right away, but I had work from the Duke, so I couldn’t.
Running into him here, I’m so lucky.
I immediately reached for my gun to kill him.
“No, Sis. The Duke said not to cause trouble right?
But my hand was grabbed and stopped by my sister Elisa.
“But! Don’t you feel frustrated too?!”
“Weren’t you going to hone your skills properly to win next time?”
“But I didn’t think it’d be some gross otaku!”
I can’t accept our powerful enemy who shot us down so easily is that!
But his strength that beat us is definitely real. No doubt about that.
“But wasn’t that just wishful thinking on your part, Sis? I’ll say again, killing here would trouble the Duke. And with some weight loss, that guy might turn out surprisingly hot you know.”
“There’s no way a guy like that turns hot!”
Elisa admonishes me while staring at the man.
Seeing our exchange, he notices us and hurriedly leaves Animember looking flustered.
He probably doesn’t recognize us, so thought we were suspicious.
But normally he’s the suspicious one right?
Oh well, I’ll let him off this time. I’ll shoot him down in hand-to-hand eventually!
“So are you done shopping?
Well, setting him aside, Elisa had been doing her own thing earlier, so I asked if she accomplished her objective, and
“Yup, perfectly!”
Elisa was beaming, holding two large paper bags.
I’ve never seen what she buys, but I have seen her absorbed in reading occasionally with an unsettling grin.
She was mumbling stuff like [The Supreme Ren×Ami Temptation Attack in Titan’s Troopers!] a while ago…
I really wonder what she bought this time…
Maybe I’ll secretly read them later.
