Strongest in the Supernatural School Volume 2 chapter 4 part 1

Chapter 4 – The Ally of Justice, Kasumi Asahina

“Ah, Amamori-kun… Your arms and legs are broken!?”

After the cavalry battle ended, Ishino’s scream echoed during the treatment.

Then, Nishikimachi’s scream resounded.

“Ah, Amamori! Are you okay!? I-I’m sorry!”

“No, it’s not your fault. Thank you for worrying, Nishikimachi.”

“Ohh, Amamori, you’re a good guy!”

Nishikimachi cried happily.

As I was thinking it was about time for his eardrums to burst,

Asahina-san approached and bowed.

“I’m sorry. A member of my organization has caused you trouble.”

“Eh, who?”

“I am Asahina Kasumi.”

I admire her courage to look me straight in the eye and apologize.

But isn’t she being a little too presumptuous, Asahina-san?

I don’t necessarily have to remember your name, you know.

Why are you talking to me like I should know who you are by now? Please introduce yourself properly.

“So, uh, Asa… Aga? Aga… something-san, what do you want?”

“…It’s Asahina. Well, I overheard your conversation with Dojima-senpai. It seems my explanation was insufficient. Recruiting you is my responsibility, not his.”

I see, that’s right. I got quite a shock.

Please don’t do those kinds of surprises. I ended up with a broken bone because of the shock.

“So?”

“…Again, I’ve betrayed your expectations. I know apologizing isn’t enough, but I’ll do my best to meet your expectations.”

“Expectations, huh… Then, be at ease. I didn’t have any to begin with.”

As I said that, I somehow managed to stand up, with Kurashiki supporting me.

“Kasumi-chan. Talking is fine, but Amamori-kun is still injured, you know? I’ll take him to the infirmary. Kasumi-chan, you should go keep an eye on Shinzaki-kun. …You want to become someone Amamori-kun can be proud of, right?”

After that Asahina-san, her face turned bright red and she looked away. She’s a little cute… No, no! I’m devoted to Hoshina-san, so I won’t be swayed!

Thinking that, I started walking with Kurashiki’s shoulder to support me.

Eventually, we entered the school building.

The commotion on the field was distant, and there was no one around.

I took a deep breath, and Kurashiki peeled off her outer facade.

“…You, what are you planning this time?”

“Nothing. I’m not particularly thinking of anything this time.”

“Don’t give me that bullshit.”

She saw through my lie without a moment’s hesitation.

“You basically always have the stench of a liar on you. …Well, to put it in novel terms, you’re the kind of guy who can casually spout lies even in every sentence of a novel. That’s the kind of guy you are. Am I wrong?”

No, you’re wrong! What a terrible prejudice!

If you’re going to say such terrible things, then show me the proof, the proof!

But even as I thought that, I didn’t refute it.

“So?”

“…Sigh, you don’t feel like answering, huh. Well, whatever. What I demand from you is to keep winning. …Well, I’ll turn a blind eye to the four consecutive losses against Kiridou, Netsuhara, Shinzaki, and Dojima, since you weren’t serious then.”

“…Your overestimation is truly excessive.”

I answered like that, but her conviction remained unshaken.

“You’ve been exposing your strength, yet you’ve been losing almost all the battles so far. The most you’ve done is ambush and punch Shiki, right? Other than that, it’s been nothing but losses. What conclusion can be drawn from that?”

“[To make them think Amamori Yūto is strong, but not a threat].”

A voice reached my ears, and when I looked ahead, there was Kurotsuki leaning against the wall, having teleported in.

“What’s wrong, strategist? Don’t you want to watch the arm wrestling?”

“Nishikimachi was just annihilated by Shinzaki. So, Amamori-san, is that conclusion of yours correct?”

I’m more concerned about whether Nishikimachi is okay,

but if I’m asked whether it’s correct or not, I suppose it is.

Humans have the unconscious habit of looking down on opponents they’ve beaten.

That’s bound to be true to some extent, even for the most virtuous of people.

And I’m just the type to exploit that.

“…Being underestimated is truly a good thing. It makes it easy to slit their throats.”

Yuto Amamori shows his power, yet doesn’t stand out.

At that point, these two would sense something is off and figure out the answer.

–Amamori Yūto is intentionally losing.

Because that’s easier.

“Geez, you’re a terrifying guy. Well, as the guy who keeps getting hospitalized with broken bones, that’s how I see you.”

“Amamori-san, if you get injured that much, you’ll worry Hoshina-san again.”

Faking sick and playing hooky are student privileges, so I guess faking a hospital stay should be allowed—but yeah, Hoshina san would definitely worry. She never doubts me.

Honestly, the idea of skipping school and moving around freely is appealing, but explaining to her that “Yuto Amamori wouldn’t pass out from something like that” is a bit tricky.

“… Well, I’ll do my best,”

I decided to answer.

In fact, during the previous hospitalization, I have already set up the [strategy] against Class A and Class B.

If I have already achieved my goal, then there is no benefit for me to get injured further.

In reality, this is probably the last time Yuto Amamori will be defeated in public.

… Probably, maybe. I’m not entirely sure since there are bad examples like Dojima.

“Kurashiki, could you please escort me to the infirmary? And Kurotsuki, I have one… no, two pieces of advice. First, [ignore Class A]. That woman has no interest in Class C when I’m not there.”

“… Understood.”

“And the second one is about the ninth event–“

The ninth event is Kurotsuki Kanade’s individual event.

In other words, it is a rare opportunity for Class B to “destroy” us.

If I were Shinzaki, I would target the intellect first.

Kurotsuki must be aware of this. I patted his tense shoulder and said,

“Kurotsuki, you’re going to lose. If it gets dangerous, call me.”

Both Kurashiki and Kurotsuki were surprised by my words, but don’t worry, it’s just a guess.

It’s better not to trust it too much and just let it go.

[The ninth event! A puzzle-solving battle!!!]

A puzzle-solving battle… Let’s confirm, this is the school sports festival.

It’s definitely not the cultural festival. That’s… a puzzle-solving battle at the sports festival?

At this point, I seriously doubt the sanity of the school’s upper management and the sports festival committee.

[Let me explain! In the puzzle-solving battle, we will first hand out ciphered messages to each class representative! The one who deciphers the code and finds the hidden treasure in the school first will be the winner of this event!]

The intelligence required for solving the puzzles and the mobility to reach the treasure’s location the fastest.

In this event that tests these two aspects, it was inevitable that Kurotsuki was chosen.

“Kurotsuki! Avenge me and Amamori!”

“Kurotsuki-kun, please let me take the last… tenth event. I will do my best to get first place. So, you also do your best.”

Encouragement came from Nishikimachi and Asahina.

Receiving their support, Kurotsuki lightly smiled and nodded.

“Ah, I also received encouragement from Amamori. I will give it my all.”

And so, Kurotsuki Kanade began walking towards the center of the field.

Seeing his figure, Shinzaki Yasuhito deepened his smile.

(Yeah, yeah…! It’s going exactly as planned!)

The fact that everything was proceeding as planned made Shinzaki’s cheeks relax more than usual.

His strategy was simple.

Destroy Kurotsuki Kanade. To that end, he entered all the events where Kurotsuki was likely to participate.

He skipped some events like the cavalry battle, which he “really didn’t feel like doing,” but entered all the other events, looking for opportunities to defeat Kurotsuki.

“Honestly, it would have been lucky if I could have killed him in the event where you defeat the ‘king.’ … Class 1-A, huh. I honestly didn’t even have them in my sights, but… Well, it’s natural that there would be one or two capable ones in that class.”

–Asahina and Kurotsuki from Class C, Shinzaki from Class B.

Among these students, there was no guarantee that there were no “even better” ones in Class A.

(… Well, with that much power, I don’t have a chance at this point. … I don’t want to engage in a hopeless battle, do I? This time, I’ll focus on crushing Asahina Kasumi and Kurotsuki Kanade.)

“What are you muttering to yourself?”

Shiki Iroha’s voice reached Shinzaki, who was lost in thought.

Shiki Iroha. She is the only student in Class B who is not under Shinzaki’s control.

He has left her alone as the necessary evil to maintain order.

“Hmm, I’m just too excited to crush Class C, you know?”
