Monster Meat Led Me To The Throne Volume 2 Chapter 16 part 2

Bruno cleaved through knights and horses alike with his greatsword. Though his face showed a hint of sadness for the horses, there was no hesitation in his actions. Both men and horses were split in two without distinction. Not even an ogre possessed such immense strength.

Barry targeted the Magic Knights with [Sonic Blade]. Some tried to defend with magical barriers, but the barriers were sliced through like paper. Low-level barriers were utterly useless.

Bill walked up and slashed, seemingly with ease. However, his skill was extraordinary, and his strikes couldn’t be dodged or blocked. Whether they tried to attack or defend, the Magic Knights found themselves cut down as if by magic. For knights who were only half-trained mages, it felt like facing an actual mage.

Ogma ignored even the magic knights, charging directly into the midst of the surrounding knights. With a ferocious expression, he seemed to be hungrily searching for stronger opponents, taking down knights as he went. He was like the berserkers of legend, who sought endless battle.

The knights of Iris were completely demoralized.

The general wanted to send the other knights to aid the magic knights, but Ogma’s presence made that impossible.

“Surround him and take him down!”

It was a straightforward but unremarkable order. The fighting spirit the knights of Iris had regained was lost, and their chance of victory was gone. In fact, there had never been any chance of victory.

The general should have retreated when he saw the Five at the Beginning. Magic knights were no match for such formidable foes.

Now, the price for that mistake was about to be paid.

Ogma appeared before the general, his eyes filled with the joy of wielding power.

(He’s mad.)

The general finally realized the abnormality of the Hundred. But it was too late.

Without understanding that his opponent was the enemy general, Ogma swung his greatsword carelessly.

Alan was in a state of panic. While he was flustered by the news of the Faloon army’s invasion, Count Godwin had disappeared.

(Did he flee? Abandoning me!)

Alan’s guess was correct, but Count Godwin was only a collaborator, not a subordinate. Even if called back, he wouldn’t return.

The Faloon army had already infiltrated the castle.

(Should I flee too? No, I should face them like a king.)

After thinking it over, Alan gathered the knights and mages in the throne room. The nobles who sided with Alan also sought refuge there.

(Let’s face them for now. If it gets dangerous, I’ll escape.)

The throne room had an escape route for emergencies. If his subordinates could buy him time, escaping wouldn’t be too difficult.

“When that door opens, unleash your magic!”

Ignoring the possibility that their own allies might still be fleeing in, Alan gave the order.

After a brief silence, the door, still scarred from the coup, began to slowly open.

The prepared mages simultaneously cast their spells, and with a deafening explosion, the door was blown away.

“What a grand entrance, even for this country, opening the door with magic.”

Standing beyond the destroyed door was Carmilla, holding a fan.

She had apparently blocked the earlier magic with just her fan, showing no signs of injury.

Carmilla confidently stepped into the throne room, followed by the palace knights, Minerva and Leia.

“Haha, you have quite a few allies, even for you, brother. So many nobles.”

Carmilla’s lips curled up into a smile that hinted at death.

“Gamaras will be delighted. He’s always eager to reduce the number of nobles.”

“Nobles are utterly useless,”

Minerva said with a ferocious grin, glancing at the gathered nobles.

“You’ve come to seize the throne, Carmilla!”

Alan accused from his seat on the throne, his voice theatrically filled with attempted authority.

“Oh my, brother, have you forgotten? Wasn’t it you who usurped the throne?”

“No! This is the will of Dorsen! No one would recognize a king who bowed to Faloon! This is a rightful succession!”

“Will of Dorsen, you say? How amusing.”

Carmilla genuinely seemed entertained.

“Will, talent, legitimacy—they’re all unnecessary. If you want it, take it by force. Isn’t it simple? You became king because you had the power to defeat the previous king, and I didn’t because I lacked power. But now, how about it? I’ve become quite strong too.”

“Even if you kill me, our elder brother is still alive. If you win, he will simply reclaim the throne. What’s the point?”

Alan revealed a hidden truth, hoping to dampen Carmilla’s resolve.

“Oh? You didn’t know? Our elder brother, the former king, is already dead. He entrusted the future to my husband.”

Carmilla flaunted her ring, the blue light of the magic stone illuminating the hall.

“Why do you have that? Your husband? The King of Faloon? There’s no way our elder brother would give his ring to a country bumpkin from Faloon! The King of Faloon must have killed him and stolen the ring!”

Alan shouted, trying to shift all blame onto Mars, as if denying his own rebellion.

“It doesn’t matter how it happened.”

Carmilla closed her fan slowly.

“Whether given or taken, the result is all that matters. The victor chooses the version that suits them.”

Despite saying this, Carmilla didn’t believe Mars had forcibly taken the ring. She knew her husband wasn’t that kind of person.

“Fool! How can a country exist without legitimacy?”

Alan, forgetting his own coup, criticized Carmilla.

“Legitimacy? It’s unnecessary. The world operates on a simple principle: the strong are right. It’s a cruel truth.”

Carmilla’s smile turned mocking, but Alan didn’t understand.

“Now, are you ready? Have you offered your last prayer to the gods? Had your last meal? Especially the meal, it’s very important. Since marrying into Faloon, I’ve been reminded daily of the value of good food. How wonderful it is to eat what you like whenever you like! Thinking back, those were the brightest days of my life.”

Carmilla’s sudden talk about food made the palace knights nod in agreement.

“…What are you talking about? What have you been eating in Faloon?”

“What? Monster meat, brother. Simply put, it’s a vile poison.”

“Vile poison? Then just don’t eat it…”

Carmilla snorted at Alan’s words.

“Hah, we don’t have a choice. In that country, it’s a necessity. If you don’t eat, the weak remain weak. My pride won’t allow that. The same goes for the palace knights. For those who seek power, Faloon is both an ideal and a hell.”

Carmilla’s expression turned cold.

“Enough talk. Shall we begin? Let’s start with my brother, who seems likely to flee. You’ve always had others fight while you planned to escape through the hidden passage when things got dangerous, right? That’s why Father deemed you unfit for kingship.”

“What? What do you know about me? Just because you were a bit talented, you’ve always been spoiled. What do you understand about me?”

“Nothing, really. Nor do I care.”

Carmilla imbued her closed fan with magic and swung it lightly.

Despite the distance between them, the wind blade from the fan sliced through the guards and cleanly split Alan and his throne in two.

“Your Majesty!”

The nobles and knights of Dorsen screamed.

Seeing their former leader bisected neatly, their faces turned as pale as death.

“Princess! I swear absolute loyalty to you! I will give you everything! Please, spare my life!”

One noble stepped forward, kneeling and begging for his life.

“Loyalty? Didn’t you say the same thing during the previous king’s coronation? I heard it. And yet you sided with Alan in his rebellion? What value does such loyalty have?”

“No, it was for the sake of Dorsen…”

“Unnecessary.”

Carmilla snapped her fingers, and a wind blade decapitated the noble.

“Take care of the rest.”

She ordered the palace knights and left the throne room.

Only the screams of Dorsen’s nobles remained.
