Afterword
To all you [Female Soldier] readers who picked up this work, I’m truly grateful to be able to meet you through this afterword. This is the author, Fuyuse.
Well then…how did you find Volume 2? At this point, as the author writing this afterword, I am feeling quite anxious. Following the production of Volume 1 in a state of “Plot? What’s that, does it taste good?”, Volume 2’s production began similarly haphazardly. First of all, I wasn’t even sure if I’d be able to publish a Volume 2. Thanks to fortune and opportunity smiling upon me…I felt truly blessed and lucky, almost wondering if I had used up all my luck while gratefully undertaking the writing tasks.
The work started off on an ominous note with concerns like “Isn’t the amount of additional content suspicious?” For strong readers who have been following from the web version, this may be an “Oh yeah, I know” kind of situation. But the truth is, this author writes at a snail’s pace. The great masters out there update daily on their sites…ahem. Among them,
I could barely manage monthly updates, let alone weekly ones, raising doubts about ever completing the story. I narrowly avoided leaving it unfinished, but then I just went ahead and wrote whatever I pleased until the end of this tale. So for the book version’s additional content, I agonized over what to write.
If I could bring out the charm of the characters, their potential is extremely high, allowing me to depict a story readers would enjoy. But if I could do that, I wouldn’t be struggling in the first place. I was able to persevere and write over 70,000 additional words for Volume 2’s publishing opportunity, despite being unsure of my own ability, all thanks to the readers cheering me on and the supporters by my side.
Once again, thanks to Tamura-sensei for the fantastic cover illustration–
What’s more, I’m happy to announce that serialization of the comic version of this work by syuri22 sensei has begun.
To see my own characters moving in pictures instead of words. Such an opportunity will never come again. I’m filled with gratitude as I receive warm responses on social media. I’ve retweeted a lot of lovely fan art, so if you’re interested, please take a look!
I think there are only immature points as an author, but I would be happy if even one person finds it interesting. Thank you very much for your continued support in the second volume.

Bonus Short Story: [A Letter from Folia]
It happened before the long vacation began.
“Zell-sama. Another letter has arrived this week.”
Zell-Ile-Mordeil, who was working in his study, received a letter from his secretary. The white envelope, sealed with a golden stamp on top of a small blue flower, had the sender’s name written in slightly rounded letters. It was a letter from Folia, an orphan supported by the church he was supporting.
Zell carefully opened it with a paper knife and quietly read the letter on the stationery. How many letters would it be this time, reporting on her current situation with enthusiasm as usual?
As he read the characters, which reported on her current situation with the same enthusiasm as usual, his eyes softened, but after a while, he furrowed his brow.
“How did it go?”
Noticing the change in expression, the secretary asked, and Zell turned his golden eyes toward him.
“…There’s a star festival during the next break. She seems happy to be going with her friends.”
“That’s good, isn’t it…?”
Not knowing what exactly bothered him, the secretary answered, and Zell carefully returned the stationery to the envelope.
“According to the letter, she’s going with Minister Mortens’ daughter. I think she’ll have guards, but just in case she gets involved in an incident, I should give something to Folia.”
“…That’s a good idea.”
To Zell, who immediately came up with this idea with Folia in mind, the secretary nodded quietly.
Ever since he met that kind-hearted girl, Zell has changed. He used to be a man who worked mechanically with an attitude like “What’s the guidance of the stars?” despite his position as a cardinal, but now he’s worried like this.
“Folia seems to be doing well with her friends.”
The secretary smiled as if he had realized something.
“Yeah. It seems like she’s made close friends.”
Zell looked at the letter again.
The roommate who always appears in the letters.
She’s a scholarship student and seems very reliable, always praised by Folia. You could tell from the text that they’re quite close.
–I wonder what kind of child she is.
If there’s a chance, I’d like to meet her in person.
Zell put the letter back in the drawer.
