Monster Meat Led Me To The Throne Volume 2 Chapter 14 part 3

Carmilla, aiming for the Dorsen capital, easily broke through the border.

The border troops were already few, and since the border commander hadn’t sided with the coup leader Alan, they chose to let Carmilla pass when she declared her intention to punish the traitor.

(Well, forcing our way through might have been quicker, but it’s better to avoid bad reputations if my child is to become the King of Dorsen.)

In Carmilla’s mind, it was already certain that her child would become the King of Dorsen. She had the power now, or rather, Faloon did.

Her husband Mars was unremarkable in private life and didn’t seem to have the ambition rumored in the streets, but he steadily amassed power.

(The Hundred, my sister’s mage corps, the monster army, and the Sword Saint. With all this, there’s no way he would just sit idly by.)

Carmilla didn’t dislike Mars. In fact, she now thought that a man with such a gentle temperament might suit her well.

But her husband was exceptionally strong, and powerful people gathered around him. They were all drawn by his power. What they sought was clear from the beginning.

(You aim to conquer the world. That’s your destiny.)

Carmilla confirmed the sight of the enemy forces deployed in the distance.

(This battle is the first step.)

Carmilla was elated. She had become stronger. Much stronger than when she first came to Faloon.

Now was the time to wield that power. It was impossible not to be excited.

In the end, strength seeks battle.

Randolph stood before his 2,000 soldiers.

As a member of the Five Heavenly Kings, he believed it was crucial to lead from the front.

Carmilla stepped forward from the opposing Faloon army.

“Did you think you could become the head of the Five Heavenly Kings by betraying us? You’re still as petty as ever.”

Carmilla wore her usual white dress. It was an unusual sight on the battlefield, and combined with her beauty, she stood out.

She opened her fan and covered her face. The fan was dyed a blood-like red-black, and its pattern depicted a dragon. When she was in Dorsen, she used more elegant and ornate fans.

(How her tastes have changed.)

Feeling a slight unease, Randolph responded to Carmilla.

“The Five Heavenly Kings should be composed of Dorsen’s heroes. It was absurd to fill the seats with outsiders like Siegmund and you.”

Randolph took pride in representing Dorsen’s knights as a member of the Five Heavenly Kings. He despised adventurers like Siegmund and the imperial princess Carmilla.

“The former king? Oh, is brother Alan already considering himself king? Does he have the royal ring?”

Carmilla smiled seductively. She had always been a beautiful princess, but with age, she had become even more enchanting. Though he had heard she had given birth, she looked as beautiful as ever.

“If I said he did, would you turn back?”

In truth, Alan did not have the ring, but it was a minor detail for Randolph.

“Stop lying.”

Carmilla’s smile deepened.

“The ring is right here.”

She raised her left hand, revealing the ring on her ring finger. The ring’s gemstone responded to Carmilla’s magic and glowed a brilliant blue. It was the same glow that the kings of Dorsen had emitted for generations, but Carmilla’s was particularly intense.

“Why do you have the ring!?”

Randolph was shaken. The knights and soldiers he brought were also disturbed. Their legitimacy was now in question.

No, legitimacy had been lost the moment they rebelled. They only raised the flag of rebellion because they saw the former king’s light fading. But the brilliance of the gem Carmilla held was so vivid that it evoked the majesty of the Dorsen royal family.

“It’s a fake! There’s no way Carmilla-sama has the Dorsen royal ring!”

Randolph raised his voice to calm his subordinates.

“The authenticity of the ring is irrelevant. What matters is whether we win this battle.”

“You couldn’t even tell the real royal ring from a fake? That’s why you weren’t chosen as the head of the Five Heavenly Kings,”

Carmilla said with a thin smile, closing her fan, which began to glow with magical power.

(What is she planning? A Sonic Blade? But that magical energy…)

Carmilla swung her fan horizontally, and a blade of light shot forth.

(What is that!? It’s not a Sonic Blade!)

Sensing danger, Randolph leaped to avoid the attack.

“You’ve grown stronger, Carmilla! It seems your time in Faloon has honed your skills,”

he said, though he didn’t truly feel at ease. It hadn’t even been two years since Carmilla had gone to Faloon, and she had spent a year of that time in childbirth. He hadn’t expected her to become so powerful.

“Look behind you, Randolph,” Carmilla instructed.

Turning around, Randolph was stunned by the sight of his own troops in disarray.

Most of the soldiers in the front row had been cut down by Carmilla’s earlier attack, lying dead and mutilated on the ground.

The sudden loss of their comrades left the remaining soldiers in a state of panic.

“Impossible! How could such a powerful attack reach from that distance?”

Whether it was magic or swordsmanship, the further the distance, the less effective the attack should be.

Randolph had thought there was enough space between them and Carmilla.

“Randolph, the land of Faloon is a land of wonders!”

Carmilla laughed,

“It’s a hellhole, you know? “

This time she opened her fan and fanning herself gracefully.

continue

The gentle breeze turned into a shockwave, infused with magical power, and assaulted the Dorsen army.

Randolph shielded himself as best he could, but nearby soldiers were blown away.

The force was comparable to powerful magic,

However, magic which typically required incantations that grew longer with the spell’s strength.

Yet, Carmilla had caused this with a simple flick of her fan. Earlier, her fan had also released a deadly vacuum blade that sliced through soldiers.

(There’s no way to win against a monster like that.)

This was enough to make the Dorsen soldiers think so, and they were already in a state of panic.

The Palace Knights launched a ruthless charge against their demoralized enemies.

Leading the charge were Minerva the thief, Leia the mercenary, and Sasha the adventurer, allof whom have the same expression on their faces.

In other words, they had a fierce and ferocious look on their faces, as if they were enjoying having an outlet for their power.

Once confident in their abilities, they had been humiliated and broken in Faloon. After enduring harsh training and inadequate meals, they gained new strength. Given the chance to unleash their power, they were thrilled. Now, they were proud members of the Hundred.

Meanwhile, Randolph, the second seat of the Five Heavenly Kings, was showcasing his prowess.

Despite the Knights’ rigorous training, they couldn’t match Randolph’s innate power. However, Randolph was growing frustrated. Every time he tried to deliver a finishing blow, another opponent would engage him, preventing a decisive victory.

His troops were dwindling rapidly.

(At this rate!)

Sensing the imminent danger, Randolph saw a princess in a white dress appear before him.

Despite being in the middle of the battlefield, an aura of serenity surrounded her. It was, of course, Carmilla.

“Shall we end this?”

she asked, smiling gently.

“Even if I defeat you, I don’t need the second seat of the Five Heavenly Kings. I will become the queen mother of Dorsen,”

“Shut up, you wench!”

Randolph readied his sword and shield and charged at Carmilla.

There was still hope. Just two years ago, he had been stronger. Though their skills were close, he had always surpassed her in mental fortitude.

He believed that at her core, she hadn’t changed. No matter how much power she gained, there had to be a weakness he could exploit.

Carmilla snapped her fingers, sending Sonic Blades towards him, but Randolph skillfully deflected them with his shield. The attacks were far more powerful than two years ago; a misstep could be fatal. As cold sweat dripped down, he closed in on her.

One more step. Half a step. He knew she would use illusions. He calculated his approach, ready to deliver a lethal blow.

(Got her!)

But his sword cut through empty air.

(Another illusion?!)

As he searched for her,

SNAP !

Randolph heard the ominous of her fingers by his ear.

Randolph was dead.

The news shocked Alan. Randolph had been his only major asset. Though he still had enough troops, he lacked a hero to lead them.

He had allied with Iris and Vulcan, promising them land. Vulcan was holding off Siegmund, leaving Iris’s army as his last hope.

In Iris, three noble houses, known as the Three Counts, were renowned for their valor.

Count Godwin, one of these houses, had come to support Alan.

“Count Godwin, can you defeat the Faloon army?”

Alan asked, summoning him immediately.

“Faloon, you say?”

Godwin’s response was hesitant.

He already knew of Randolph’s death. Randolph was no weakling. They had clashed several times in border skirmishes, and Godwin was well aware of Randolph’s strength. As one of the Five Heavenly Kings, Randolph had been a formidable opponent.

Therefore, he did not have the pride to think that he could win the war.

(If Randolph, leading ten times the troops, was defeated, then they must be a significant threat. We should prepare to defend the castle rather than engage them in the field…)

“Nonsense! Are you one of Iris’s vaunted Three Counts, yet you fear those country bumpkins?”

Alan underestimated Faloon, which was why he had rebelled against the previous king who had lost to Faloon and offered his sister as a hostage.

“However, Dorsen has already lost twice—once at the Battle of Brix and now with Randolph’s defeat. Underestimating them will only lead to more losses,”

Godwin argued. Internally, he was frustrated. Alan was clearly a foolish and unfit king, propped up by Iris and Vulcan.

Vulcan had warned them to be cautious of Faloon. With Sheila the Twin Blades married to King Zeross, Vulcan had valuable information on Faloon.

“It was a fluke! That’s all it was!” Alan shouted.

Godwin inwardly cursed Alan as a fool, but with Randolph gone, Alan was the only one who could command the Dorsen troops.

As he pondered their next move, a Dorsen soldier burst into the room.

“We’re under attack! The enemy has infiltrated the castle! It’s the Faloon army!”
