Mob No. 78: “Welcome! Repairs, trade ins, shopping? What’ll it be?”
Well, first I should consult with oyaji.
I could just visit manufacturers directly but they’ll absolutely push trendy stuff I hate dealing with.
I walk over to oyaji’s Dorg Maintenance.
“Hello~”
Entering the shop, oyaji and employees busily work.
“Yo. Rare seeing you shipless. Get it blown up?”
Wiping sweat, interrupting work, he jokes since I only come for ship issues, usually arriving on one.
But it’s no joke this time.
“Yes, I had disembarked when the ship got bombarded and exploded…”
“What?! …Well, just having your life is a profit I guess…”
“After you helped with it so much… I’m very sorry.”
“Geez. At least I don’t have to maintain your cyborg body! You’d probably become a hunk then!”
Bossman was shocked but glad I’m safe.
I’d rather not get teased about my looks though.
“So this is it right?”
He shows the Iofus Corps Nordgehleim page from the pamphlet.
“Various makers left catalogs saying [Show us if you’re replacing at destruction level].
“Can you order it?”
“Sure I can. You’ll want a good radar right?”
“Absolutely!”
“Then I’ll find one better than your previous. I’ll contact you when it arrives. Pay then. You’ll tweak it post purchase right?”
“Thank you! And yes, I’ll borrow space and tools again! I’ll look for radars too.”
Leaving the purchase to oyaji, I better thoroughly research radars.
No skimping on money here.
If he finds better performance I’ll just go with that.
Ship searching surprisingly quick, I suddenly had free time.
So I decided to visit a shrine for cleansing.
It seems unscientific in this age of spaceships zipping about, but shrines, temples, churches, and the like persist, retaining various religious rites. Meaning there must be some divine favor to be had I figure.
Among such facilities on Itts, I chose to visit Takadono Shrine, model for the anime [Buresu★ Kometto]’s heroine’s family shrine, famous among anime fans.
The shrine maiden graciously accepted my sudden cleansing request. I paid the offering and received the ritual.
Between it being a holy site for a beloved anime and the excitement of a real life shrine maiden, I maintained composure until the cleansing finished, as I was serious about removing misfortune.
They sold regular and collab anime amulets of course. I bought both for added fortune.
Hopefully this wards off a bit of misfortune.
If I were Arthur the dramatic shrine maiden encounter would be a story element, but no such luck for me.
After ordering a ship at oyaji’s and the shrine visit, it was just past lunchtime.

I randomly ate at a fast food place, then immediately headed to Animember and Seizaban.
Gotta replace the various manga, novels, and anime data cards lost.
New releases are easy to grab, but old stuff will be difficult.
Clutching at straws, I checked Seizaban for my lost items and while [My Sister Can’t Be This Cute] and [I Don’t Have Many Friends] were there, no [Cowgirl Swing] or [Galrom Barron].
Might be able to order at Animember if they’re still publishing them.
Got [Assassin×Family] right away as a new title. Managed to order [Galrom Barron] but no luck with [Cowgirl Swing].
While browsing Animember for new stuff since I was there, I ran into Gonzalez of all people.
Rather than his usual lab coat, he wore a stylish casual jacket.
“Yo. Rare seeing you here.”
“We often ran into each other as students huh.”
That our go-to place hasn’t changed since school days is kinda depressing honestly.
“What’re you buying?”
“Replacements for stuff I brought to work and turned to ash just to kill time.”
He looks briefly surprised at my words but,
“Shopping means you’re safe then.”
Returns to his usual self.
“You?”
“Doujin light novels for [Titans Trooper] and [Silver Summoner], plus anime data cards for [Assassin×Family].”
“Oh right, I gotta reserve that too!”
And his answer reminds me of something I need to do, so we reserve [Assassin×Family] anime data cards together before leaving Animember.
We walk the same path from Animember to the station, like we did as students.
Usually pointless chatter starts up while walking it.
“Y’see, I was actually planning to visit tomorrow.”
“Info?”
“Nah. Specifically your shop and the ship related ones on the street. I want a better radar than the good mass produced one I got before. Still mass produced though.”
Tough conditions, so I was going to have him gather intel and visit such shops.
But Gonzalez suggests,
“In that case, a good new place just opened up. Still time today right? Strike while the iron’s hot, let’s go see?”
After thinking a bit I accept his proposal and we head to the black market street.
The atmosphere is unchanged, growing shadier as daylight fades.
That butcher for instance has a sign saying [The value of you worms born of filth is halved!].
Passersby also vary widely, giggling to themselves or muttering.
Led by Gonzalez through the sights, we arrive at the junk-buried [Curie’s Garage – Repair and Recycling] looking like a trash hoarder’s home with only the entrance visible, but dealing in more than just ships – home appliances, PCs, droids, cars, weapons, military arms, and their parts and wrecks.
Contrasting the exterior, the tidy interior displays large terminals, multipurpose terminals, appliances, weapons and such carefully placed.
In back is a young, pretty, petite woman – 150cm with blonde, bobbed hair, green eyes, tan skin, and nice proportions. She wears yellow overalls and shaded goggles on her head.
“Welcome! Repairs, trade ins, shopping? What’ll it be?”
She greets us smiling.
