First, I will explain the Second Savior Project and its overview.
It happened several decades ago. In a certain place, there was a child born among people called the Symbiosis Faction.
One day, the child’s parents decided to perform a ritual that was popular among the Symbiosis Faction at the time. This ritual involved offering a living sacrifice to summon a demon, with the goal of transforming humans into intelligent monsters, or demon-kind.
The child chosen as the sacrifice for this ritual had a special stone called a magic crystal implanted in them. This crystal was said to be left behind when monsters die.
The ritual would have been considered successful if a demon had been summoned in response to their wishes, or if the child absorbed by the magic crystal had become demon-kind.
However, during the ritual, the parents and their companions were raided by people from an opposing organization. They died, leaving behind the child who was desperately resisting being absorbed by the magic crystal.
The suffering child, who had been used in the ritual, was then rescued by the people who had raided the place.
Born with an exceptionally strong and resilient life force, the child would normally have had both body and mind consumed by the magic crystal, becoming a mindless monster. Instead, the child managed to absorb the magic crystal.
This surprising turn of events caught the attention of the superiors of those who had raided the ritual site and rescued the child.
In other words, the upper echelons of the National Defense Force.
The child gained special abilities from absorbing the magic crystal. As a result, they willingly cooperated with various experiments as a collaborator with the National Defense Force, for the future of the nation—no, for the future of humanity.
Over the next decade or so, using the data obtained from the cooperative child, the National Defense Force succeeded in developing a relatively safe artificial magic crystal.
This became the greatest achievement of the Second Savior Project.
Now, those who are compatible with these artificial magic crystals serve as the main force in national defense.
Those of you who are magic crystal compatible, remember to be grateful to the original child, as they are called.
Now, the effects of the artificial magic crystals developed by the National Defense Force can be broadly divided into two categories.

One is a pseudo item box.
Although the exact mechanism is unclear, the magic crystal can retrieve items equipped by the mech it’s linked to.
If you attach a box to your mech and fill it with food and water, resupplying becomes easy. Please give it a try. Especially water infused with magical power, which can also serve as fuel for the mech, is very useful.
However, once food and water are placed in the magic crystal, they become infused with its power. This means only the user can consume them, and they can’t be used as fuel for other mechs due to rejection reactions. Please note that this only enhances the user’s own combat sustainability.
An additional note of caution: While there are no limits to weight or volume in the pseudo item box, the user does gain weight when storing items.
Specifically, 1/1000th of the total weight of the stored items is added to the user. For example, 10 tons would add 10 kilograms. Since carrying too much weight can lead to fatigue, consider the weight carefully when storing items in your magic crystal.
The second effect is that the magic crystal serves as a device key for the mech.
Basically, the mechs, which are ultimate weapons against large monsters, use many monster body tissues in their construction.
However, since the constructed mech is essentially a collection of dead parts, the magic crystal harbored by the pilot is necessary to move it.
Incidentally, even without a pilot, a mech will move if it has a magic crystal, but in that case, it will just rampage around until it breaks. It’s only natural, as giving fuel to a corpse without a clear will results in mindless action.
However, this can be an excellent means of sabotage when considered as interference from others. Therefore, make sure to keep anyone other than yourself and maintenance personnel away from your mech.
