Strongest in the Supernatural School Volume 2 chapter 2 part 7

“The foundation of my actions is trust in you, Amamori-kun. If you say you’ll be okay, I’ll entrust you! And no matter what happens, I’ll protect you! Feel free to rely on me anytime it gets tough!”

Her words, which I would have dismissed as nonsense before,

I now take as her resolution.

I avert my gaze from her and turn to face Shinzaki again.

There’s no sense of pressure. No feeling of the fight starting.

And yet, I understand deep down that it’s about to begin.

“Sorry, it looks like I kept you waiting a bit.”

“No problem! There’s still plenty of time!”

Just like a casual conversation between a couple meeting up. Not a hint of tension.

In fact, my classmates seem confused, debating whether they should try to stop this or not. Surveying this scene, Shinzaki says with the brightest smile:

“I hope you do well, murderer!”

–There was no signal for the fight to start.

Of course not. The fight had already begun the moment we stood here.

In an instant, Shinzaki Yasuhito’s figure vanishes from in front of me.

Accelerating abruptly from a state of relaxation. The contrast in speed creates an illusion of even greater velocity.

How many of the observing students would be able to track his movements?

As I lower my gaze slightly, he’s charging straight at me.

Our eyes meet as he rushes towards me.

He sneers and accelerates, unleashing a powerful punch to my abdomen.

–In that moment,

the impact exploding in my abdomen was beyond imagination.

“Guh…!?”

It’s probably on par with, or even greater than, the kick I delivered earlier.

Bright red blood spills from my mouth. The force sends me flying around 10 meters.

Normally, this would be an instant kill from organ rupture. He really does seem serious about “killing.”

Looking around, the bystanders are staring at me and Shinzaki in shock.

Among them is Shiki Iroha, and she is gazing at me intently, with both surprise and…

I avert my gaze and wipe the blood from the corner of my mouth with my sleeve.

“…Guess I’ll have to put some more spirit into it.”

I don’t intend to be killed, but–at least the opponent seems serious.

Shinzaki’s beaming smile now looks like a demonic taunt.

“About… another 7-8 minutes left, I think? You’ve got plenty of time.”

If it was just Kirido, I’d be fine even after getting hit.

…But this is starting to look pretty tough if I just take it. Concluding that, I ready my fists.

I said I’d let you hit me for free, but that was a lie!

It hurt a bit too much to just let you punch me all you want.

“Ah, you’re fired up now? Well, take your time and go on your way!”

Shinzaki accelerates again.

This time, I won’t naively let myself get hit. I parry the fist aimed at my head with my palm.

With momentum still going, I throw him with a shoulder throw, but a spinning kick comes flying through the air.

Wow, you move really nimble. You’d probably be good for the circus, huh?

Even as I think that, I defend with both arms. But my body still gets pushed back several meters.

“Ah, you must have judo experience. So hand-to-hand combat is your weakness, huh?”

Of course, I have no experience in either judo or striking martial arts.

The approaching Shinzaki suddenly switches from his wild swings to rapid, light jabs like a boxer.

But the punches unleashed from his enhanced physique are at an unnatural speed, and each hit is pretty heavy. If a dedicated boxer saw this, they’d probably go crazy and throw their gloves away.

As I defend, I gauge the level of his attacks.

With this power, his fists could easily crush a car and even shatter asphalt.

At full force, he might even be able to pulverize a building.

…I probably shouldn’t be saying that, but isn’t this physical ability a bit unfair?

In speed, Asahina probably has the advantage, but the power is just ridiculous.

“There!”

With a genuinely joyful voice, his fist breaks through my guard and hits my stomach.

The impact pierces through, and more fresh blood spurts up.

“Ah, Amamori…… Ku, n!”

I hear Hoshina-san’s hoarse voice. I try to look towards her, but Shinzaki grabs my bangs and forcefully turns my gaze back to him.

He’s laughing.

Happily, gleefully.

His face is full of madness.

“You’re not as strong as you talk!”

It was a refreshingly cheerful remark. I’m a little hurt.

“Whaaat? I thought you must be super strong after all that bravado, but you’re just a total weakling! How pathetic! You let me down so bad!”

This guy… he’s spitting out so much malice with a nice smile.

Looking up at the gymnasium clock, it’s… not even been two minutes yet.

Less than six minutes left. I hope he’ll just waste time insulting me.

But as I think that, Shinzaki powerfully throws my body.

I manage to regain my balance in the air and land okay, but I was thrown quite a distance.

“Whoa, what arm strength…”

“Ah, Amamori! Don’t do anything reckless, just forfeit! The club president Hoshina will be sad!”

I hear voices of Karasuma and Higarashi, but I face forward.

I won’t forfeit. But I don’t seem to have the leeway to react right now.

I evade Shinzaki’s approaching fist again. He looks a bit dissatisfied, but tilts his head as the following light punches land cleanly.

“How strange. These attacks land, but the decisive blows never hit no matter what.”

He wraps his hands around my neck and drives his knee into my face.

The impact is so great that the air trembles. It was a truly serious blow.

Amidst the horrified screams from the crowd, Shinzaki speaks to me in a low voice.

“You were holding back, weren’t you? It irritated me so I just crushed you☆”

His way of speaking, with a little star at the end, is just strange.

There’s no way that’s the tone you’d use towards an opponent in the middle of a fight.

As I think this–I put force into the hand that caught his knee kick.

“…Hm? Sorry, I wasn’t listening because I’m not interested.”

The moment I speak, I can see Shinzaki is surprised.

Thought you crushed me, huh? Sorry, it looked a bit painful so I decided to catch it.

I put all my strength into my right hand.

With full power, full spirit, my right hand easily shatters Shinzaki’s knee.

The horrific destruction sound was too brutal to be just a break.

It must have been completely pulverized. For the first time, pain appears on Shinzaki’s face.

“Ugh…! How… how do you still have so much strength left!? You look like a nearly dead failure, but…”

“Your eyes are rotten. I’ll introduce you to an ophthalmologist.”

Shinzaki protects his shattered knee and starts to move back, trying to put distance between us for the first time.

So I decide to be mean and close the distance again.

Shinzaki defensively guards in a panic. The response to defense… is what you were doing earlier, isn’t it?

I trace his movements and drive my fist into his abdomen.

“Guh…!?”

This time I held back properly. Not enough to make him vomit blood like me.

But I made the impact reverberate through his body. His internal organs must be shaking violently, feeling the worst nausea.

He vomits, and I lightly kick his cheek, sending his body flying about 10 meters just like mine.

I exhale lightly.

The remaining time is… over 5 minutes. We’re almost at the halfway point.

Looking at Shinzaki, he’s holding his knee and looking up at me.

“Don’t push yourself. Your knee must hurt.”

“You’re the one who shattered it, you know… Ugh, I’m really pissed off now!”

A vein is throbbing on his forehead. Seeing a smile with a pulsing vein is really intense.

But the intensity is just intensity. He hasn’t actually attacked me again yet.

Shinzaki is holding his knee and sweating nervously.

Seeing that figure… To be honest, I was disappointed.

“Huh, is that all there is to it?” I felt a little let down.

He had unparalleled physical strength in close combat. I certainly thought he was a formidable threat, but no more and no less than that. If this guy is just a muscle-bound freak, Class C should be able to defeat him if they all work together.

In fact, fighting Netsuhara might have been more threatening.

As I thought this to myself, a vague premonition began to seep out.

“Really?”

someone seemed to be shouting deep inside me.

Is this level of ability truly the strongest among the students in Class 1-B?

Even if he’s still growing, is this guy who can be defeated so easily considered on par with Class C? The answer is no. The school can’t be that stupid.

Probably – no, definitely – the school is distributing power equally among all the classes.

If that’s the case, his true abilities must be far beyond this level.

Asahina, Kuromitsu, and Kurashiki altogether can’t be considered equal in strength to Class C.

I scan the surroundings. The difference in reactions between Class C and Class B is what I need to confirm.

“Whoa, why was he the same gut that got punched by Kiridou…?”

“For real, is there anyone who can beat Amamori in a fistfight?”

That’s the reaction from Class C. I’ll take care of that later by exposing my pathetic display. The real problem is the reaction from Class B.

They weren’t even worried about Shinzaki. That was the answer.

I hear the sound of him standing up.

Looking closely, steam is rising from his knees, and the shattered legs are beginning to return to normal.

Additionally, the bruise on his cheek that I kicked has disappeared without a trace.
