The Suspects of Necromancy Volume 1 Chapter 26

Conrad took Luna and his two subordinates to Kahn’s mansion.

As they approached the mansion, he felt an increasing urge to turn back. He knew this was due to the barrier, so he steeled himself and followed Luna.

His two subordinates wore uncomfortable expressions but managed to keep up.

Luna stepped through the mansion gate.

“Stick close to me if you don’t want a ghoul grabbing your ankles.”

Conrad and his men followed Luna closely, cautiously entering the premises.

When Luna opened the mansion door, three skeletons awaited them.

“Grim Reapers. They’ve been waiting for my return.”

Introducing the ominous skeletons wielding scythes, Conrad turned pale.

“Luna, I’m sorry, but can they wait outside? Honestly, I’ve always been terrified of ghosts.”

Conrad shivered slightly.

“Even a knight can be a bit cowardly? Well, let’s have them guard the gate then.”

Luna laughed softly and pointed towards the gate, directing the Grim Reapers to move. They slowly shuffled in the indicated direction.

Conrad and his men sighed in relief.

“Are there any more undead?”

“No, not anymore, scaredy-cat knight.”

Luna teased.

“Then can you lead me to Kahn?”

“Yes, follow me to the back room.”

As Luna led the way into the mansion, Conrad exchanged glances with his subordinates.

“Here we are.”

As Luna opened the door to the back room, Conrad’s men seized her.

“Ah!”

Luna let out a short scream, but Conrad drew his sword and rushed into the room, slashing at a man seated at a desk.

The sword cut through the man’s shoulder and chest, slicing through the chair. The man bled profusely, clearly fatally wounded.

“Let’s go! And take care of the girl…”

Conrad turned to instruct his subordinates but was shocked by what he saw.

His two subordinates were clutching their throats in agony, lying on the floor.

Luna stood between their bodies, smiling mischievously.

“Finished with your business, Sir Knight?”

“What’s going on? Why are they down?”

Conrad was confused and panicked.

“They didn’t know how to properly treat a lady, so I punished them. You shouldn’t manhandle a lady.”

“You did this!?”

“Yes. Simple magic.”

Luna raised her right hand and made a gripping gesture, causing Conrad’s neck to tighten under an invisible force.

“Stop…”

Unable to speak, Conrad was on the verge of suffocation.

Just before he lost consciousness, Luna opened her hand, releasing the choking force.

“Who… what are you?”

Conrad held the strangled neck trying to make sure he was safe.

“Didn’t I introduce myself at the outpost? I’m Kahn’s disciple.”

“If you’re his disciple, why are you so calm after your master was killed?”

“My master died about 50 years ago. His ashes are still in the basement.”

Conrad turned to look at the person he had just struck.

“Then, who was this!?”

“A phantom.”

Luna snapped her fingers, making the slashed man disappear, leaving only a chair with a sword embedded in it.

Conrad’s eyes widened in fear.

“You’re a necromancer!”

“Indeed.”

Luna admitted without shame.

“You deceived me!”

“How rude. I never deceived you. Did you ever ask me if I was a necromancer?”

Conrad realized he had never asked. But who would believe such a young girl could perform advanced magic?

There was only one explanation for someone so young to have mastered high-level magic—

an immortal monster he had read about while studying necromancy.

“Are you a vampire?”

The worst kind of undead, turning humans into their own kind by drinking their blood—the ultimate result of necromancy.

“Something like that.”

“Why side with the Kingdom of Rama? You shouldn’t care about human conflicts!”

Conrad thought it was absurd for a monster to intervene in human wars.

“I do have a reason.”

What does this vampire have to do with the Rama Nation? Conrad, who was responsible for intelligence in the knight order, had never heard of such a connection.

“Wait, please. What do you want? I can give you anything. People? You need human blood, right? How many? I can provide as many as you need. Gold, treasures, whatever you desire, I can get it for you. What do you want?”

“The knight is quite a negotiator.”

Luna was exasperated.

“All I wanted was a simple, ordinary happiness. But that’s lost forever. In Rath’s Kingdom, anyone could have it. Why weren’t you satisfied with it?”

“What are you saying? Why does a monster like you speak like a commoner?”

“Calling me a monster hurts.”

“Wait! I apologize for what I said. Please forgive me.”

Conrad fell to his knees, backing away on the floor.

“Then, how about this? Drink my blood and turn me into a vampire. Give me eternal life. I will become your servant. Is that acceptable?”

“You’re not very appealing.”

Luna lost interest in the man before her.

“I’m selective about who I drink from. I don’t just pick anyone. Though, I’ve been rejected quite often.”

As Luna spoke, an old man in knight armor entered the room.

A tall, sturdy man with white hair, an eyepatch, and numerous scars indicating a veteran warrior.

“Sorry for being late, Lady Luna.”

The old man bowed to Luna.

“Long time no see, Killian. You’ve become quite an important figure.”

Luna smiled at the barely recognizable Killian, noting only his remaining eye and voice were familiar.

“Captain! Why are you here!?”

Conrad exclaimed in surprise. Killian looked at him with disappointment.

“I never thought my direct subordinate would be a traitor. No wonder we couldn’t find you. I apologize.”

“You only have one eye, so it’s understandable that you miss things.”

“How do you know the Captain!?”

Conrad shouted.

“I told you about Rath and Killian, remember? Oh, by the way, Rath’s full name is Ramnath. Remember your king’s nickname, even if it’s useless now.”

“So, the story you told was…”

“About 50 years ago. Not something many could share. I enjoyed telling you. Thank you.”

Luna smiled sweetly. Conrad’s eyes were unfocused and filled with terror.

“Lady Luna, leave the rest to me. Please proceed to the palace. His Majesty is waiting.”

Killian’s remaining eye was filled with sorrow.

“Alright. But you shouldn’t bother with this man anymore.”

Killian silently nodded at Luna’s words.
