Evil Leader Next Door! Volume 1 Chapter 5 part 2

Responding to Annouard’s confusion, Red pointed. His finger indicated a figure standing on the bridge spanning the river to our right.

“Oh…!”

I widened my eyes. Flowing silver hair. Armor covering the face, torso, and limbs up to the elbows and knees. Brown skin peeking through.

The right arm was thrust forward, still emitting remnants of the thick colored particle beam from earlier.

“Ashella!”

It was indeed Ashella, back in her combat form. And cradled in her arms was…

“T-Taratat!”

“W-What the heck!?”

As expected, Annouard, who didn’t know about their survival, was astonished.

“Hey, Midori, you still kickin alive?”

Taratat, who was being held, laughed and waved her hand.

“Y-Yeah! I’m alive!”

“What… what’s happening?” “What about the seal on Ailsherad!?”

Amidst the questions from our comrades, I was more concerned about something strange.

(With just my emotions alone, wasn’t it enough to just maintain the status quo? Was she deceiving me? But no, she was weak at that time. Could it be that I fell for her? Would the world be in danger if Ashella and I became lovers?)

My mind raced at high speed, churning out various worries. But ultimately, asking was the fastest way to get answers.

“What’s going on with that power? “

I yelled at the bridge at the top of my lungs. Taratat answered confidently.

“Yeah! It’s the result of enhancing her [strongest desire]!”

“Well, I don’t know! I don’t understand!

“A little more detail! “

The voice that followed was Annouard’s. Forgetting his orders to the monsters, he was listening with pure curiosity. Figures, that guy.

“Oh, Annouard! How’s it going?”

“Of course, I was dead, but I’m fine! But more importantly, what’s the deal with this!? And what are you planning, Grand Leader?”

The question he naturally had for his former Leader and colleague was thrown at them.

“Oh, uh, sorry. Well, you know, since we lost, we’ve put world conquest on hold for now.”

“Whaat…? You’re stopping?”

“We’re stopping. What about you?”

Former superiors and subordinates exchange lackluster conversation. Despite persuasion, Annouard scratches the back of his head in refusal.

“Well, it’s no surprise that even though it’s our Leader’s words, it’s not going so smoothly. The emulation of Great Leader’s abilities is also starting to take off.”

“Yeah, it’s coming along nicely. They’re doing their best, but if that’s the case, you’ll end up clashing with me and Ashella, right?”

“That’s why, that’s the reason. And why is Ashella regaining her power?”

Taratatt then looks at her subordinate.

“Hmph. Then tell us, Ashella! Why have you regained your power, and why are you fighting against Annouard?”

Underneath her mask, Ashella had been silent, but after a moment, her mouth opened.

“Mi─”

Her voice carried an extraordinary determination. All eyes in the area, including Charcoal D, turned to her.

And then…

“Midori belongs to me! I will protect him! I won’t let anyone take him away from me! “

Ashella shouted loudly.

“Huh!?!”

” ” ” ” ” ” ” …………………………………………………………………………………… ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” “

All eyes, including those of the Banshokuger and Annouard, and even the giant monster, now turned to us.

Wait a minute.

“Hehehe, that’s how it is!”

“What do you mean by that?”

I quickly interjected, but Taratat, from Ashella’s arm, struck a pose.

“I believe I mentioned it before, but Midori! Our essence is spiritual! We feed on the emotions directed towards us by humans to gain power!

On our own, the emotions of a single person won’t give us much power, but! If we sincerely determine ourselves to ‘live for this person,’ it becomes a highly efficient source of energy from the target entity!”

“Ohhh! I see! Clever move!”

Which move?

My team member and Annouard, immediately understood, but it took me a little longer to grasp.

Pink was the first to vocalize her thoughts.

“So, um, does that mean, Ashella, you have feelings for Green?”

Then Blue.

“Are you… seriously, deeply in love…?”

“Woah!” Red and Black chimed in together.

Wait, is that what this is about?

I pondered internally. Ashella and her kind, being spiritual beings…

(Strong self-determination influences their nature too…?)

Moreover, being spiritual beings, there is no deception. It was the truth.

Though it was behind a mask, I could distinctly feel the blood rush to my face.

” ………………………………! “

I was being confessed to in front of my teammates, in the most ridiculous manner. While I was left feeling embarrassed, the others who reached the same conclusion as me began to discuss the situation one by one.

“I-it’s hard to believe… but she did defeat the monster.”

“S-so, does that mean she’s on our side?”

“Is she going to fight alongside us against them? Ailsheraad!”

All eyes turned once again to Ashella.

“Hey, wait a minute, is that true!?”

“Are you really going to side with humanity? Ashella?”

Both Pink and Annouard called out to her.

Perhaps to give an answer, both of them headed towards the battlefield. Taratat, somehow looking pleased, said,

“It might end up that way, in the end. Now, Ashella, what will you do?”

Her tone and attitude seemed to say, “I already know the answer!”

(This guy is totally ……)

Although it was embarrassing, I hoped this would somehow work out. Thinking that, I rushed over to Ashella.

She nodded at me, and with a sparkling glimpse from beneath her mask, she opened her lips──

“Yes. I will──”

She took a breath and declared,

“I will crush everyone here, then seize control of the Banshokuger headquarters. Next, this city, and then the nation. To create a world for just Taratat-sama, Midori, and me.”

” ” ” ” ” ” …………………………………………!!! ” ” ” ” ” “”

She said something outrageous.

“Huh?”

Even Taratat seemed surprised. Wait a minute.

“…This is strange. I thought Ashella’s goal was to help Midori.”

“I confirm it. I only care if we get the green and Tarlatat is safe, that is sufficient. Therefore, I will crush anything that threatens them. The Banshokuger, who views Taratat-sama as a threat, and exposes Midori to dangerous missions. Annouard, who attacks the city where Midori lives.

──────All of them.”

With a firm tone and a voice that seemed to resonate from the depths of the earth, she declared.

“Hey…” “This doesn’t seem good…” “So this is Japan’s yandere…” “Is the world in danger depending on Midori-san?”

Pointing at her (and me) beginning to be considered dangerous by our companions, I will make a complaint to her master.

“This is clearly dangerous! Didn’t you confirm this before?”

“I didn’t know she was this messed up, huh?”

The Great Leader, busy chewing on her cheek. Seriously, get your subordinates under control.

Above my anxious head, a shadow fell.

“!”

The moment I noticed, sound was blown away. Vast air compressed, shattered, and immense friction brought about illumination, irregularly scattering waves of destruction around. The colossal impact of a falling mass liquefied the sturdy embankment in an instant.

The shockwave alone made Red and the others, a bit further away, take defensive stances to endure it.

Finally, the roar happened. It was an event that surpassed the speed of sound.

“Ugh… what’s this guy!?”

It occurred to me that the giant monster ShacoorD, the creature was based on Charcoal-D , had a ridiculously fast punch that caused impact luminescence underwater. Its power was enough to effortlessly crush even sturdy shells.

(Red also took that hit!)

And that was when it was human-sized; imagine it in giant form.

Amidst the destruction, I pondered why I was still unharmed. The answer was, of course,

“Ah… Ashella!”

I instinctively shielded Taratatt behind me, and Ashella, in turn, shielded me.

ShacoorD’s unbelievably fast descent punch was perfectly guarded by her palm. Although the scissor fist was causing the embankment to collapse through Ashella, she herself was unharmed. Thanks to her power field, we, standing behind her, were also safe.

“Heh… stopping ShacoorD’s supersonic punch with one hand. Certainly, she’s somewhat back to her old self.”

Annouard admired. When it came to ShacoorD, a creaking sound was heard, but its body remained motionless.

“Crack!” Something hard broke. Ashella, who had stopped ShacoorD’s fist, was grabbing the tip of his fist. The sound was the crunching of the carapace as her fingertips crushed it.

“Starting with you.”

As Ashella crushed and stopped the scissor fist, light radiated from her hand.

“Get down!”

“Wha-what!”

I shouted to my comrades, and further covered Taratatt, crouching down on the collapsed embankment.

Immediately after, a flash. A beam shot out from Ashella’s palm, embedded in ShacoorD’s fist.

“Scatter!”

A grand sound of something breaking and shattering. Of course, it was the sound of the beam rushing through ShacoorD’s arm.

The light traced back along the arm, and then flowed into the upper body using the arm’s outer shell as a rail.

“Gyaaaah!”

ShacoorD’s body cracked under internal pressure, and light leaked out, echoing its death throes throughout the evening sky.

Explosion. The giant-sized monster shattered, and Ashella’s beam scattered.

With the light source rivaling the setting sun behind her, Ashella waved her arm, scattering residual light.

One blow.

“Incredible power… as expected…”

Trembling voices of Red and Black could be heard.
