The Suspects of Necromancy Volume 1 Chapter 21

Once a month, Luna fought Logan.

This was partly because it was a condition of becoming his apprentice, but also because he simply wanted to beat him someday.

At first, Luna thought that it would not be so difficult to win.

After all, the opponent was an old man. Logan was getting weaker day by day, but Luna was immortal and had superhuman physical abilities, and the amount of his magical power could not be compared to that of a human being.

He was optimistic that once his magical skills improved through training, the gap between Luna and Logan would narrow.

However, it was not to be.

“Hoi, hoi.”

Luna launched a physical attack against Logan, who deployed a barrier to repel the attack.

With the force of the assault, Luna was knocked away, smashing through the wall of ruins behind her, and the building that had once been part of an advanced civilization collapsed.

Luna was buried alive in the wreckage of the building, but he blew away the debris and quickly escaped, standing before Logan once again.

However, as expected of the immortal king, he seemed to have expended a great deal of energy and was breathing heavily.

He said, “It’s a hassle, but perhaps it’s time we had a game outside these ruins. Even though it is in ruins, it was built by me and your ancestors. We can’t bear to destroy it.”

Logan is a rambunctious old man, but he respects his ancestors, the people of Asra. The reason is simple: he respects them for having established the art of magic.

Luna, on the other hand, had not heard any of his words. He had not yet given up the fight.

Ever since he was buried in the rubble, he had been chanting incantations in a whispering voice.

‘O flame!’

With only the concluding words clearly shouted, Luna’s magic saw completion. It became a raging storm of flame that closed in on Logan.

Logan sighed in front of the kalpa fire, which seemed to leave not even a charcoal extinguisher.

I see you’re still relying on chanting. You’re never going to get any better, are you?”

Logan waved his staff to the side, and the storm of flames vanished with ease.

According to this great mage, magic with a known input condition can be easily erased. Of course, no one but Logan could do such a thing.

However, Luna was aware of this and used magic.

The huge storm of flames was a distraction, during which Lunar moved in behind him to strike again with a blow.

As Luna approached from a blind spot, Logan pointed only his staff in that direction without looking.

Yes, good job.”

What was released from the staff was a mass of condensed magic power. It struck Luna.

The girl’s body was blown away and flew through the air without a second thought.

(Luna’s dazed consciousness faded.)

Luna thought in her foggy consciousness.

(But if she were as strong as this person, she might not have had to kill her master.)

The last thing that crossed her mind was Khan, for some reason.

And the years passed.

Luna and Logan stood in the wilderness a short distance from Banukut.

Behind Luna, a large number of undead were lined up. There were dozens of grim reapers, zombified demons, skeletons, and more.

These are the undead that Luna has gathered from the surrounding area to defeat Logan, and they are becoming more powerful by the day.

Luna snapped her fingers, and the undead scattered and surrounded Logan. It was a tactic to prevent them from being rounded up by magic.

Then they attacked all at once. Logan did not panic, but instead tapped the ground with his staff, and the ground cracked at that point, and the earth began to split open.

The undead were swallowed by the cracks one after another, but some of them reached Logan as they went on without fear of death.

The Grim Reaper swung his scythe, but Logan leapt into the air and floated away. The place where he had been standing earlier collapsed completely, and the remaining undead were annihilated.

However, there was someone who was aiming for Logan, who was still floating in the air. It was a skeleton dragon.

It was not supposed to fly, but it soared on wings of bone and attacked Logan with its bared fangs.

This skeleton dragon, which Luna had spent months searching for, was the trump card in this battle.

Where did you find this thing?”

Logan readied his staff and lightly struck the head of the monster that had attacked him. Then the skeleton dragon’s bones broke apart, scattered, and fell to the ground. Logan had deactivated Luna’s jutsu.

The Luna was no longer on the ground. Before he knew it, he had leaped above Logan’s head, gained acceleration in the air using his magical power, and delivered a powerful kick.

Yo.”

Logan moved nimbly and received the kick with his staff, and Luna’s body came to a halt in mid-air.

‘Too bad, see you tomorrow.’

With those words, Luna’s body suddenly became heavy and fell with tremendous speed. The ground caved in on itself.

Lunar had been forced to fall by gravity magic.

I win again,” Logan said smiling.

Logan smiled smugly. Luna was buried in the ground, looking at the sky and thinking.

I lost again.

Luna had never beaten Logan.

He had devised magic and tactics and fought countless times, but Logan was stronger.

Logan generously shared the magic he used with Luna. However, even when he knew his moves, it was not a simple matter because Logan had many ways of fighting and applied them well.

The amount of magical power was equal, or even greater than Luna’s, but the difference in experience was a step too far. And that difference in experience was not going to be filled in anytime soon. This was because Logan himself was inventing new magic and fighting techniques one after another in his battles with Luna. Logan was a wizard who really liked to study magic.

However, Luna wondered. Logan was an old man from the moment I met him, and he has not changed now as he did then. It had already been 30 years since he had started his apprenticeship.

I asked Logan about that,

He replied, “Like magic, life is expendable. If you can eliminate waste, you can live a long life.

He replied, “If you don’t do anything, you will live as long as you want. In short, if you do nothing, you can live as long as you want.

Then, if you don’t teach me magic and don’t fight, won’t I live longer?

Luna tilted her head.

Are you an idiot? What is the point of learning magic if you don’t know how to use it? Magic is fun because you use it. Magic is fun because you use it. I became a wizard because I wanted to do flashy magic.

Luna thought that was a very Logan-like answer.
