“That’s her, the fifth hero who defeated the Demon King Zelgius. The forgotten saint!”
Orm’s words brought back memories of the engagement that had been annulled three years ago.
Just as Orm said, Romelia was one of the five heroes who had defeated the Demon King. However, during their journey, she fell out of favor with Prince Henry, had her engagement annulled, and was removed from the list of heroes.
Society sneered at the fallen count’s daughter.
Yet now, she was the only hope against the Demon King’s army.
Upon returning to her hometown, she didn’t waste time lamenting her broken engagement. Instead, she immediately took action, raising an army in the distant Cashew region to fight the Demon King’s forces. She also established a military alliance, known as the Romelia Alliance, to counter the Demon King’s threat, saving various parts of the kingdom.
“She’s incredible, truly the saint of salvation.”
Orm, beside him, exclaimed in admiration as he watched Romelia charge across the battlefield.
Seeing Romelia fight on the battlefield, defeating the Demon King’s army despite being a woman, the people began to call her the saint of salvation, praising her.
When Zaltz first heard the stories, he thought they were a bit exaggerated. But seeing her now, clad in white armor, carrying the flag, and charging across the battlefield, she was indeed the saint who would save this ravaged country.
It was a sight like turning the pages of a myth, causing his heart to tremble with both awe and concern. It was far too dangerous for the commander to be at the front lines waving a flag. She was an easy target for the enemy.
“Hey, she’s being targeted by archers over there!”
One of the guards on the castle wall shouted. In the direction he pointed, the Demon King’s archers were drawing their bows, aiming at the beautiful and defenseless saint.
“No, run away!”
Zaltz shouted, knowing his voice wouldn’t reach her. Other soldiers also yelled for her to escape, but a hundred arrows rained down on Romelia like a dark storm.
In everyone’s mind, they saw Romelia meeting a cruel death.
But just as everyone was about to despair, a miracle happened.
The arrows suddenly changed direction, veering away from Romelia as if avoiding her. Not a single arrow hit, and Romelia remained unscathed.
“A miracle. She’s a true saint.”
Zaltz was in tears, unable to see clearly.
He wasn’t the only one. Everyone who witnessed this sight was filled with the same sentiment.
As Romelia advanced, the knights behind her finally caught up, surrounding her protectively.
For now, they were safe. Or so it seemed, but the Demon King’s army was composed of elite troops. Some units were already preparing to respond to the sudden assault.
Ahead of Romelia, a hundred heavily armored infantrymen had formed a defensive line with their shields, ready to confront her. Meanwhile, at the far end of the battlefield, the Demon King’s cavalry had noticed the commotion, starting to encircle Romelia’s knights from the rear.
“They’re going to be flanked! Change course!”
Zaltz shouted with all his might.
If they continued like this, they would be annihilated. They needed to avoid a collision with the heavy infantry and change their course. But the dozen or so knights surrounding Romelia continued to charge straight at the heavy infantry.
“Can’t they see what’s around them?”
Zaltz criticized the knights protecting Romelia.
The Demon King’s heavy infantry were renowned for their impenetrable defense. It was said that you needed more than double the force to break through them. Charging at them with fewer than twenty knights was sheer folly.
Zaltz could already see the knights being surrounded and crushed.
But at the moment of impact, the Demon King’s heavy infantry line shattered with a single blow.
“What is this? Who are those knights?”
Zaltz shouted in astonishment at the unexpected outcome.
With every swing of the knights’ lances, the seemingly unbreakable heavy infantry of the Demon King’s army fell. These were no ordinary soldiers.
“Of course, those must be the famed Romelia Twenty Knights!”
Zaltz realized who they were.
When the Romelia Knights were still a small unit, Romelia had led twenty soldiers from the start. They swore absolute loyalty to Romelia, each one possessing the strength of a thousand men. They were known as the strongest shield and sword, protecting Romelia and defeating any foe.
“Then those two must be the Red Knight Albion and the Blue Knight Raven!”
Orm exclaimed in excitement, watching the knights clad in red and blue armor fighting before Romelia.
All twenty knights were exceptionally powerful, but Albion and Raven were particularly remarkable. These two were the strongest within the Romelia Knights.
Originally of low status, said to be peasants or orphans, they had risen to knightly ranks through their feats under Romelia’s command.
The soldiers, led by Orm, were excited to witness new heroes in action.
But the danger was not over yet. Romelia and her knights were still deep in enemy territory, surrounded on all sides. Half of the Demon King’s army was still unaware of the situation, but the cavalry that had noticed Romelia was already charging from the rear.

“Captain Zaltz, those cavalrymen are elites.”
Orm pointed to the approaching cavalry of the Demon King’s army. Among them, several wore red armor.
The Demon King’s army usually wore black armor, but the elites were permitted to wear blood-red armor. This elite-led cavalry would not be easily defeated.
While Zaltz expected Romelia’s entire group to face them, only Albion and Raven stepped forward to confront the elite cavalry.
“Are they planning to take them on alone? That’s too reckless!”
Orm shouted from beside him.
But Albion and Raven advanced calmly towards the approaching enemies.
From the Demon King’s cavalry, a demon carrying a cross spear emerged.
Seeing the demon with the cross spear, Albion swung his lance through the air, even though they were still some distance apart. Flames burst from the lance’s tip, illuminating the battlefield in red.
“Magic!”
Orm exclaimed in amazement at the flames lighting up the battlefield.
Zaltz was also shocked by the large flames. Albion, the Red Knight, was also known as the Flame Knight, said to wield magic despite being a knight. However…
“It looks impressive, but it’s not hitting the enemy!”
Though astonished by the flames, Zaltz noticed that the fire hadn’t struck the Demon King’s troops. The demon with the cross spear had stopped in surprise but wasn’t injured.
“Captain! Look at that!”
Orm pointed in shock to the sky above the battlefield.
There was a blue dot. The Blue Knight Raven was flying through the air with his cape billowing in the wind.
“He’s actually flying.”
Someone muttered, though Zaltz couldn’t tell who it was.
The Blue Knight Raven was said to fly. Zaltz had thought it was just a battlefield rumor. But there he was, truly flying, looking down on the battlefield from above.
Raven flipped in midair, then aimed his lance and dived like a bird of prey.
The demon carrying the cross spear was mesmerized by the flames and didn’t notice Raven’s attack from above. His head, helmet and all, was pierced by the spear.
Surprised by Raven’s sudden appearance from the sky, the soldiers of the Demon King’s army aimed their spears at him. However, Raven kicked off the body of the demon he had just slain, jumped, and landed on another soldier’s head. Upon landing, he killed the enemy with his spear and kicked off his chest to leap again.
His movements were so light and agile, as if he were skipping across stepping stones, leaping over the heads of the Demon King’s army.
“What’s with those movements? That’s not humanly possible!”
Just as Orm shouted, Raven’s movements defied gravity, resembling the steps of a fairy. His initial flight wasn’t just an ordinary leap.
“I see, he’s using wind magic to float!”
Zaltz realized the secret behind Raven’s jumps.
The Azure Knight Raven was also known as the Wind Knight, said to control the wind. He created air currents with wind magic, allowing him to rise with each leap.
The Demon King’s army tried to defend against Raven’s attacks from above by raising their spears, but they couldn’t keep their eyes only on the sky. In front of them, the Red Knight Albion was brandishing his spear, demonstrating impressive spear techniques.
The demon soldiers in red armor were evenly matched with Albion in spear skills. But as they blocked Albion’s spear, flames erupted from its tip. Although the flames didn’t have enough power to burn, they obscured their vision, creating an opening. Albion didn’t miss this chance and pierced the demon’s thigh with his spear.
Though not a fatal blow, flames erupted from the pierced thigh, engulfing the demon’s body and burning him to death.
Albion, the Flame Knight, continued to burn the elite soldiers of the Demon King’s army with his deadly spear.
“What incredible magic users!”
Zaltz was in awe.
Using magic requires intense concentration. Typically, mages cast spells from the safety of the rear. Flying through the air and releasing flames with a spear is challenging even for top-tier magic users.
Albion, the Flame Knight, and Raven, the Wind Knight, were the two strongest among the Romelia Knights. Even the elite of the Demon King’s army couldn’t match them.
As the two knights carved a path through the enemy ranks, the remaining twenty knights of the Romelia Knights charged in to annihilate the enemy.
The power of the Romelia Knights was fearsome, but the Demon King’s army wasn’t defeated yet. Despite the surprise attack and the breach of their defensive heavy infantry and cavalry, their morale didn’t falter. They reorganized their units, repaired the breach, and began to encircle the Romelia Knights.
“We’re getting surrounded! Retreat! Retreat now!”
Zaltz shouted at the top of his lungs, but the Demon King’s army completed the encirclement like a dragon closing its jaws.
