II. Carmilla
Click, click, her high heels echoed on the cobblestones as the woman walked gracefully.
Dressed in a lavish white gown, she fanned herself, humming as she strolled.
In the recent days of Faloon’s royal capital, a woman of such apparent high status was a rare sight.
Since King Zeross’ political upheaval, nobles had become a rarity in the city, and well-dressed women even more so.
Even before the upheaval, it was uncommon for high-ranking women to walk the streets.
Therefore, the residents of the capital watched the woman with curious eyes.
Her face was elegant, her well-proportioned body almost bewitching, but the prevailing thought was, “Why is someone like her walking here?”
Unbothered by the stares, the woman made her way towards the castle.
The guards at the castle entrance were from the Blue Knights.
Unlike the Black Knights and Red Knights, who had distinguished themselves in the recent war against the Dorsen Kingdom, the Blue Knights primarily protected the capital and were less renowned. However, most of them were also part of the Hundred, making their skills comparable to other knight orders.
The two knights on duty felt an uneasy sense of foreboding as the woman in the white dress approached.
“Hey, do you think that woman plans to enter the castle?”
one knight asked his partner. As guards, they recognized most of the people who entered the castle, and they knew this woman wasn’t one of them.
“No doubt about it, given her determined stride,”
“Have you seen her before?”
“Of course not. Even when nobles were around, I never saw a woman in a dress walking to the castle.”
Nobles, especially noblewomen, despised walking. They used carriages whenever possible due to the impracticality of their dresses and shoes.
“Could she be a brothel worker dressed as a noble? I’ve heard some men are into that sort of thing.”
“Maybe. So, she’s here to settle some lover’s quarrel?”
“Possibly. If so, it’s probably with Lord Chrom or Lord Warren.”
The heads of the Black and Red Knights were known as playboys in their youth. Though still unmarried and frequently seen in the pleasure districts, they never caused such disturbances that would bring someone to the castle.
“Well, it’s certainly not our commander.”
“Absolutely not.”
Brett, the commander of the Blue Knights, was a model of propriety and a paragon of knightly virtue. He had sided with Mars during the upheaval, motivated by concerns over the kingdom’s corruption. Despite this, he was fundamentally a straightforward and earnest individual.
As the two guards bantered, the woman in the white dress finally reached the gate.
“Excuse me, who might you be? And what is your business at the castle?”
one of the Blue Knights asked politely. She seemed suspicious, but there was always a chance she was connected to someone in the castle. Additionally, she didn’t appear to be forcing her way in, so the knight opted for a courteous approach.
“Oh dear, I thought I was quite famous, but perhaps not here? How unfortunate,”
the woman said, covering her mouth with her fan as she laughed.
“Famous… you say?”
“Yes, very famous. In my homeland, there’s no one who would dare to stop me.”
The guards exchanged puzzled looks. Was she a noble from another country? Yet, they had received no notice of such a visitor.
“May I ask whom you intend to meet? We can check for you.”
“I have no appointment. I simply wish to see King Zeross.
I wonder if there’s been a misunderstanding. If he thinks defeating two weaklings means he can look down on the Five Heavenly King Kings, it’s a sad day for me and a disgrace for Dorsen.
As one of the Five Heavenly King Kings, I felt I must personally address this for the sake of my country. So, I came here, secretly and without informing His Majesty. Walking all the way here has been quite tiring. May I come in?”
The Blue Knights were taken aback.
“One of Dorsen’s Five Heavenly King Kings? Dressed like that?”
“My name is Carmilla. But please, don’t compare me to Matheus or Dante. They’re merely for show among the Five Heavenly King Kings.”
Carmilla smiled seductively, fanning herself. She looked more like a high-class courtesan than a formidable warrior, making her claim seem implausible.
“Let’s ask her to leave, shall we? Regardless of her claims, we can’t allow someone from Dorsen into the castle.”
“You’re quite inflexible,”
Carmilla said, fanning herself at the two knights.
The gentle breeze from her fan turned into a powerful force, blowing the knights off their feet and slamming them against the gate, which opened with a loud crash.
“Oh, how convenient. The gate opened,”
Carmilla said, stepping over the incapacitated knights and into the castle.
Hearing the commotion, other Blue Knights quickly arrived.
Carmilla continued walking, her heels clicking on the floor.
“Hey, woman! Who are you?”
Several knights blocked Carmilla’s path.
Carmilla waved her fan at them, and the gust transformed into a shockwave, sending the knights flying. Some of the fallen knights coughed up blood from the impact.
“What was that? Magic? Surround and capture her! Don’t let her pass!”
More knights moved to encircle Carmilla.
Seeing this, Carmilla snapped her fingers with her right hand, the one not holding the fan.
With the sound, a blade of wind emanated from her fingertip, slicing through a knight’s body and armor.
“Sonic Blade!?”
The knights were shaken. Sonic Blade was a sword technique, not magic. Carmilla hadn’t chanted any spells. If she wasn’t a sorceress, then who was this woman?
Carmilla continued snapping her fingers.
Each snap sent a knight, now bloodied, collapsing to the ground.
Some knights tried to attack her from her blind spots, but their strikes couldn’t reach her. It wasn’t that she dodged; their swords simply couldn’t touch her.
Those who missed their attacks were quickly taken down by Carmilla’s counterstrikes.
Thus, the royal castle of Faloon was soaked in blood.

With no more obstacles in her way, Carmilla walked through the castle corridor, her footsteps echoing.
Most of the castle’s clerks and maids, startled by the commotion, had fled.
Carmilla didn’t bother with them and made her way toward the throne room.
“Halt!”
A man stood in her way, holding a sword and shield.
He wore blue armor, signifying the Blue Knight Order.
“I am Brett, Captain of the Blue Knights. You’ve dealt with my subordinates, who are you?”
Brett, with his short, slightly curly brown hair and brown eyes, had a serious and stern expression as he raised his shield.
“Since you’ve introduced yourself, I suppose I must do the same. I am Carmilla, the Third Seat of the Five Heavenly King Positions of the Dorsen Kingdom.”
Carmilla sighed, answering with a hint of annoyance.
“Cease this futile resistance and step aside. My business is with King Zeros.”
“The Third Seat, huh? I am the Tenth Rank of the Hundred. Don’t think you can defeat me easily.”
“A minor rank in a backwater knight order dares to boast…”
Carmilla snapped her fingers.
A sharp sound echoed as Brett’s shield blocked the wind blade.
“Sonic Blade? And from that motion!?”
Brett was astonished by Carmilla’s attack, but he cautiously kept his guard.
“Oh, to block my attack. Is that shield made of mithril?”
Carmilla looked surprised that her attack was blocked.
“This shield was bestowed upon me by His Majesty. Your attacks won’t get through!”
Brett’s shield, though small and round, was made of mithril and magically enhanced.
Found by Mars in the Forest of Beasts, it was given to Brett as few among the Hundred used shields, focusing instead on offense. Brett, skilled in shield combat,
Mars gave it to Brett only because he did not need it, but Brett was very pleased with it and has kept it as a family heirloom ever since.
Carmilla waved her fan, sending another shockwave towards Brett, but he blocked it with his shield.
“What an annoying shield.”
Brett, closing the distance, swung his sword, but Carmilla danced backward, snapping her fingers repeatedly to send multiple wind blades.
Brett defended each one skillfully. His solid defense was his hallmark,
Even in the arena, he is not flashy, but he is a solid fighter and is highly valued by discerning spectators in the arena
“You can’t win by just defending, you know?”
Mixing wind blades from her fingers with shockwaves from her fan, Carmilla’s attacks were relentless.
While defending, Brett crouched, gathering strength in his legs, then leaped at Carmilla with his shield.
“Defense isn’t my only skill!”
His technique, Shield Bash, was a powerful attack that merged defense and offense, turning a simple charge into a magical, full-body strike.
However, his attack missed Carmilla, who seemed to slip past him.
“Still more!”
Using his momentum, Brett launched another Shield Bash upon landing,
This sequence of attacks is his signature move that had felled many in the arena.
He bounced off walls, floors, and even the ceiling, repeatedly trying to hit Carmilla, but she eluded every strike.
“Why can’t I hit her!?”
“How shy of you. Are you afraid of touching a woman?”
Seeing Brett’s confusion, Carmilla laughed.
“But I’ve grown bored. Though you’re diligent, your attacks lack substance.”
“Y-you…”
Brett, recalling similar critiques from his personal life, momentarily faltered and stopped.
Carmilla’s image shimmered like a mirage.
“You’re lacking in experience.”
Her voice came from behind him.
Using afterimages for high-speed movement, Carmilla had moved quickly.
As Brett turned, trying to regain his stance, a sharp sound marked the moment her wind blade cut through him.

It’s crazy that there are people who are already insanely strong even without eating monster meat. I wonder how much stronger she would be if Mars recruited her into Hundred.
