Mob No.54: “Well then, how about a light lunch and then off to the anime shop!”
Finally, yesterday I listened to Gonzales vent for a solid hour.
Well, he’s usually the listener, so it’s okay to listen to him once in a while.
Luckily neither of us drinks, so we were able to call it an early night.
Then at 9:55 the next morning.
I waited for Gonzales and Mr. Kruzz in front of [Placetar House] at the train station.
Not even 3 minutes later,
“Yo.”
“Hey.”
Gonzales arrived.
Wearing a brown coat over the usual black pumps, red tight pants, and white blouse – the outfit worn under the white robe, it seems.
“Kruzz still isn’t here, it seems.”
And just before 10 am,
“Right on time.”
Mr. Kruzz arrived.
Sneakers, jeans, polo shirt. And a bright white sweater.
The metal mask and gloves were a red and yellow design I’d seen somewhere before.
“First I have to get the Demon Slayer figurines of Shinobu Kocho and Mitsuri Kanroji!
“Jump right in!”
“The Holy Relic Free Sundress version of Maaya-sama from [KonClub] is a must get as a Maayaist!”
The moment we entered the arcade, ignoring Gonzales pushing in, Mr. Kruzz charged for the crane games, proclaiming.
50 minutes later.
In the end, Mr. Kruzz spent a total of 17,000 credits to get Shinobu Kocho, Mitsuri Kanroji, and the Maaya-sama free sundress version.
And from the social education sim game [SpeedQueen Speed Queen! The Planet Race], the victory celebration dress version of Malona Glicia, who was chosen as the protagonist in the upcoming anime of the popular character.
After that, we enjoyed competitive games, racers, medal games, and the like that we hadn’t played in a while, leaving the store a little after noon to avoid the crowds.
“Damn! If I had just swerved there…”
“Gon lacks timing on turns. As expected from Mr. Uzos.”
“It’s life or death, so yeah. Though it is nice that there are no injuries, not even from crashing or getting shot down.”
The last game we played, the dogfight, was at Mr. Kruzz’s suggestion.
“Well then, how about a light lunch and then off to the anime shop!”
We’ve had a pattern since high school of staying at the arcade past noon and then moving our lunchtime to avoid the crowds, and we still do it unconsciously.
“Then let’s go somewhere normal…”
Just then, a famous chain of stylish cafes came into view.
At that moment, all 3 of our expressions froze.
“Maybe not there.”
“Yes, not there.”
“Let’s not.”
Back in high school, the three of us went to that fancy cafe once.
At the time, it felt like the staff and customers inside were staring at us.
Like [Don’t come to a fancy cafe like this, you otaku!]
Of course, the staff and customers didn’t say anything or look at us.
In retrospect, we were probably just shy, but at the time, it really felt that way.
And just as I was about to grab our stuff and leave, this Arrodih Ilevurgas came in with a bunch of girls and started harassing us with [Hey, why are introverts using a stylish place like this?], giving us more bad memories, so we won’t go near this stylish cafe chain and stuff.
The coffee was delicious, though.
For reasons like that, we decided to go to a familiar fast food place.
From a distance, we probably stand out as a strange mixture of me, who clearly looks like an otaku, a man with a metal head and arms, and a bespectacled beauty.
Especially Gonzales.
If he had his original body, he probably wouldn’t stand out, but his current form is very noticeable.
Well, that would never make me stop being friends.
So we each ordered burgers and drinks and sat down, then Mr. Kruzz spoke to me.
“Come to think of it, Mr. Uzos, you participated in the suppression of the terrorists on Planet Taura, right?”
“Yes, I survived somehow.”
Since it made Imperial news, it was natural for him to know, and natural for him to think that I had participated as a mercenary.
“So you saw and maybe even talked to [Crimson Goddess]?”
I expected questions like how much the reward was, but his excited questions were about the rumored beauty mercenary, as expected from my friend.
“I’ve seen and heard her on the comms, but I haven’t spoken to her in person. Well, that wouldn’t happen.”
“True, yeah.”
I was honestly just stating facts and Mr. Kruzz readily accepted it.
As someone similar to me, there was no way he could talk to such dazzling people.
We understand each other very well.
As Mr. Kruzz and I became depressed, Gonzales approached him.
“How’s the treatment going, by the way?”
As a medical professional, he seems to be concerned about Kruzz’s injuries, even introducing creams that are effective on burn scars.
Mr. Kruzz made a serious face.
“Actually,”
He removed the glove from his left arm.
There appeared his left arm without a trace of burn scars, smooth and beautiful.
“Both arms were completely healed the day before yesterday!”
Saying this happily, he also took off the glove on his right arm.
The same beautiful right arm appeared.
However, both arms were milky white from years without sunlight.
“This is great! Congratulations!”
“Why did you hide it?”
Both Gonzales and I were happy for our friend’s healing.
“Well, my face isn’t completely healed yet, so there’s still a risk of relapse. And, somehow, I felt uncomfortable without it on.”
Looks like not a full recovery yet, more of a milestone it seems.
Still, nice to see a friend’s scars diminish even a little.
“Speaking of which, when will you be returning your body, Gon?”
Mr. Kruzz asked Gonzales, who muttered while munching on a French fry.
“When I return, I need proof of the original body and stuff, plus the cost is…”
Though he says that, completely his own fault.
“Your own fault. No, you bought a sterilizing capsule instead of turning back because you don’t want to go back, right? So if you didn’t want to go back despite the horrible experience of being a host, why didn’t you revert and buy a sterilizing capsule instead?”
I pointed out the reason he had given earlier for not being able to return to his original body.
“Miscalculation. The meetings themselves are monthly plus study sessions. The moderators are those within 10 years of certification, so I had another year before my next turn, but some quit or died or passed 10 years, so the order moved up.”
Gonzales seemed seriously reluctant, unlike before when he seemed uninterested in returning.

Thanks for the update
Thanks for the chapters.
The paragraphs sound a bit rougher than usual. Can still be chalked up to them being introverted though.
